But the ongoing pollution of our rivers, lakes and streams is a complex issue caused by many factors. We believe that there are five key areas that Government and stakeholders need to address to create a national strategy for the future health of freshwater. 🧪 This September, thousands of citizen scientists will be testing their local rivers, lakes and streams as part of the #GreatUKWaterBlitz! Our #FreshWaterWatch kit measures the concentration of nitrates and phosphates in fresh water. The water samples change colour depending on how much nitrogen or phosphorus is present. Nitrates and phosphates are useful indicators of the ecological health of freshwater. This is the water’s ability to support healthy, diverse communities of plants and wildlife. 🦆 We explain more about how our kits work and why we focus on #NutrientPollution testing in our blog 👇
