One man’s trash is another man’s treasure! ⭐ At E.ON, we’re turning what would usually be wasted into enough electricity to power 40,000 homes in Willebroek, Belgium! ⚡ Partnering with Imerys we’re using innovative energy recovery technology to capture the syngas produced during their carbon black manufacturing process—essential for lithium-ion batteries—and transforming it into clean energy. And it’s not just about generating power—hydrogen plays a key role, helping to cut emissions and pave the way for a more sustainable future. Predicting the future... of heat? 🔥 At E.ON, we’re always innovating, and our Optiheat project in Poland is a shining example! While British weather remains as unpredictable as ever (and we all know we like to talk about it), Optiheat uses AI to forecast heat demand with 95% accuracy. That means warmer homes, fewer emissions, and lower costs! We’re not just guessing when you’ll need to turn on the radiator—we can predict it before you even feel the chill. ❄️ Curious about how tech like this is transforming energy management and helping us on the journey to net-zero? Check out our blog to see how we’re turning up the heat on innovation: https://ow.ly/yJPw50Tv4Bg #AI #EnergyManagement #NetZero #Digitalisation #Optiheat #Innovation

Driving out of home charging E.ON has joined up with MediaMarktSaturn, a leading electrical retailer in Europe, to offer their customers a fast charging facility for their vehicles while shopping in store. As part of this collaboration, we’re installing 300 new public charging points powered by 100% renewable electricity, at stores across Germany. These high-powered chargers will be capable of fuelling as much as 200km in just 10 minutes of shopping time. ⚡ We operate one of the largest charging networks in Europe. In the UK we’re building a network of ultra-fast charging stations providing customers with access to over 20,000 charging points. This is just one of the many ways we’re working towards a sustainable future, as an increasing number of drivers seek greener ways to travel. 🚘 Read more here https://ow.ly/wjFA50TvXwj

HRH The Princess Royal visited our Blackburn Meadows renewable energy plant 🪴today, experiencing the power generation process up-close and hearing about benefits of sustainable energy for cities such as Sheffield in terms of cleaner air, more affordable energy and new jobs and skills. The Princess Royal met the team running the Sheffield power station which generates electricity⚡ for the grid and heat 🥵for a district heating network in the Lower Don Valley – all powered by waste wood 🪵 that would otherwise have gone to landfill. She also saw an overview of E.ON’s investment plans for new energy infrastructure in Sheffield as well as opportunities to improve energy efficiency in local homes, decarbonising public buildings, and driving new skills development and opportunities for local suppliers. Part of that is a project with Skills Street to develop a learning zone to promote the decarbonisation of the region and to develop a host of skills and training opportunities👷🏼♀️. We’re delighted to have welcomed youngsters from across Coventry to an event at our Westwood Business Park headquarters to help inspire young people about their future careers. Working with Coventry City Council and Coventry Building Society, the youngsters came in to hear about the work experience opportunities and apprenticeships available to them, as well as CV advice, mock interviews and a good mix of fun, interactive activities. Attendees included care leavers and other young people who are linked with both the House Project for Care Leavers and Positive Youth Foundation ensuring young people who may not always be able to access these types of work opportunities and programmes could find out more. E.ON is committed to supporting Coventry and its people through our groundbreaking 15-year Strategic Energy Partnership with Coventry City Council. **Making new energy work for everyone:** Speaking at Reuters News Agency Energy Transition Europe 2024 event in London, I highlighted how the energy transition has the potential to ensure we change energy from being a significant cause of poverty to something that is not just affordable to all, but a lever to actually help lift people out of poverty. Our E.ON Next pilot scheme in Coventry demonstrates aspects of this potential new approach: addressing immediate needs by writing off debt for vulnerable customers, while simultaneously tackling long-term affordability. So as well as resetting things financially we're installing batteries and other energy solutions, providing energy-efficient appliances and improving insulation - measures that reduce energy consumption and costs for years to come. This combination of short-term relief and long-term solutions directly addresses the root causes of energy unaffordability. Imagine scaling this nationally. We could transform people's relationship with energy, addressing affordability not just once, but permanently. For suitable homes, which will be the vast majority, we could redirect existing funding sources away from short-term sticking plasters to a new subscription approach. In our project we’re showing that by providing a free battery up front, the subsequent annual subscription matches the £150 Warm Home Discount payment but delivers benefits and savings year after year far in excess of that amount - we’re estimating more than £250 each year. For others, where their home isn’t immediately suitable for improvements the support payments would continue alongside lighter interventions. The key is to combine immediate action with long-term measures to break the cycle of high energy bills, and by adding further innovations in the future such as simple energy trading for the stored battery power we can unlock financial gain for customers (something our partner Amber Electric is already doing for its customers in Australia). In this energy world it’s not about energy unaffordability, it’s about unlocking the power of energy as a force for good. E.ON Next E.ON UK npower Business Solutions

🚚Twelve e-trucks 🔋Twelve teams 🛣️300 kilometres Our first eTruckathon event displayed the practicality and suitability of electric and fuel cell trucks and the associated charging and hydrogen infrastructure. This groundbreaking activity united 12 leading vehicle manufacturers, logistics companies, and E.ON’s e-mobility and Hydrogen experts to demonstrate the future of heavy-duty transport in a long-distance test along 300km of motorways and country roads from Essen to Hanover, Germany. Why? We wanted to answer some of the key questions in this field, such as: • How far can an eTruck go on one charge? • How fast can it be charged? • What does megawatt charging mean in practice? The event underscores the fact sustainable logistics is not a distant aspiration but an achievable reality. It highlights how leading industry players are already integrating these technologies into their operations and making significant strides towards a greener future.
