One thing we're really enjoying about celebrating our 25th birthday is hearing peoples memories of visiting DCA over the years. Norma Lyall shared: "Growing up in Glenesk in the foothills of the Cairngorms was wonderful in many ways for my children. It was a bit of a long trip to the cinema though! I tried to give them as many opportunities to experience culture and art in different ways. When DCA opened it was a fabulous opportunity to do just that - from watching movies to immersive art workshops. They were also really lucky to be part of a school project on moving image education, with a screening taking place at DCA. It’s a special place, I hope they have as many fond memories of it as I do." Norma kept the artwork created by her children, Donald and Karen, in our Express Yourself! workshop back in 2000. We were delighted when she shared them with us, alongside an image of Karen (then aged 3) at the workshop in what is now Create Space. We even managed to find the listing for the event in our archive. If you have a special memory of DCA, do share! You can email us at [email protected]. Or share a special birthday message with us on the comment board located in our Information Space.
