Guess who's back? We're working hard ahead of relaunching the site next month, and we'll be announcing our new editorial team next week. We have a tonne of ideas for the next chapter of Design Week, but we'd love to hear from the design community as well, to understand what you want to see on the platform in the weeks and months to come. During our pause, we're re-publishing the occasional article from deep in our archives. This March 1990 column by our founder, Jeremy Myerson, discusses how car design can look backwards and still bring something fresh to the market. It's particularly prescient in highlighting the Mazda MX-5, which was doubted by many at the time but has since become a hugely successful model line that remains popular today, a quarter of a century later. You may have seen late last year that Design Week was being closed down. When David Coveney, a supplier, heard of the closure he asked a simple question: "How much to save it?" A few weeks later, talks started between Xeim and Interconnect about purchasing the assets of Design Week. And now, we're coming back, as reported in Dezeen: https://lnkd.in/eNaBGiNY Interconnect is the holding company, and Standfirst is their design and development studio. The strategy is to be bold, invest, and take risks using the same sort of agile design and development approach that has worked wonders for many in the tech sector. Once Design Week has been migrated to our own servers, we'll post a few things up, including a little bit more about the team behind the acquisition and what we're planning.
