Andrew Castle, our healthcare advisory services director in Saudi Arabia, attended Global Health last week.
The process of change is accelerating within the Kingdom. Whilst other sectors and projects regularly appear in the media due to their scale, ambition or locations, healthcare is quietly transforming at a scale not seen before in any other economy. Change at pace is being embraced both by providers and service users, where the adoption of telehealth, digital prescribing, and the use of apps to empower patients to manage their own health records has been introduced and adopted at scale.
At the event Dr Adil Monshi, Director General for Investment Promotion, Ministry of Health detailed the investment across the healthcare and life-science sectors at the Investors Forum. He shared that in addition to having a clear vision of how healthcare will be delivered across the kingdom, capital is being invested in assets to future proof the required capacity for future generations.
Steve Moore from Welcome Health Ventures, along with Al Faisal University and King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSHRC) hosted a reception for a number of British firms. This provided the opportunity to meet with cluster representatives and other local stakeholders such as the Royal Commission for Riyadh City. The event highlighted the opportunities for collaboration and learning between international firms, and organisations and providers within the Kingdom, as well as a forum for developing new relationships with key stakeholders.
If you would like to hear more about how our healthcare advisory services can help transform healthcare in Saudi Arabia, please get in touch with Andrew.

We’re wishing our colleagues and clients a happy Diwali.
If you’re celebrating over the coming days, we hope you and your family enjoy a peaceful and joyous festival of lights.
We recently celebrated our annual Global Health & Wellbeing week.
Taking place on 7-11 October 2024, and coinciding with World Mental Health Day, this marks a chance for us to focus on promoting and nurturing our physical and mental health.
See how our teams across the world got involved.
In collaboration with Cheshire East Council and Springfield School, we provided quantity surveying and client advisory services for the recently completed multimillion-pound Springfield School extension in Crewe.
The project aimed to build eight additional classrooms to accommodate more students, as well as ancillary spaces such as calm rooms, a sensory room and a therapy room. The extension would also facilitate new hygiene suites and improved kitchen facilities for Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) pupils aged 11-18.
We guided Cheshire East Council through the procedures and requirements of the New Engineering Contracts, ensuring smooth project management procedures from the initial planning, development stages to project final completion.
Our client relied on our weekly cost checks and value engineering meetings to report on true time costs and keep the project within budget.
Collaborating with key stakeholders, including Springfield School, local governors and the local Cheshire authority was vital to ensure all project goals were achieved.
Christopher Bailey, associate, stated "We are pleased to have contributed a pivotal role in delivering our services for the Springfield School extension project in Crewe. Our role in this important expansion reaffirms our commitment to supporting meaningful developments that will benefit both the education sector and the wider community. As a result of this successful project, we are also working with the school and local authority to deliver the continuing expansion of facilities and satellite schools".
The Bridges Cross project in Oxford has been awarded ‘Residential Development of the Year’ at the prestigious OX Prop 2024 Awards!
As employer's agent, quantity surveyor, and clerk of works for this exceptional development, we played a key role in bringing this project to life. Working collaboratively with OX Place, we delivered 36 new high-quality homes in Oxford’s city centre.
72% of these homes were designated as affordable, far exceeding the 50% affordability requirement typically expected for a development of this size.
The project was constructed on the site of a 13th century Dominican Order (Blackfriars) friary that was demolished after the dissolution of the monasteries by Henry VIII in 1538.
A highlight of Bridges Cross is OX Place’s first-ever green roof. This provides significant environmental benefits, including natural insulation, enhanced energy efficiency and reduced flood risks, demonstrating the project’s commitment to sustainability standards.
Congratulations to our Bristol and Cardiff office teams for their hard work and collaboration, which made this achievement possible. We’re pleased to have contributed to such a transformative project for the Oxford community.
Lila Haracz, Senior Housing Development Officer at OX Place, stated "Currie & Brown were really collaborative throughout the construction and planning of the Bridges Cross development, delivering detailed budget forecasts which helped minimise financial risk. Their experience and the proactive nature of the team helped keep this project on track, ensuring a successful completion"
