On October 16, we closed a new and highly successful edition of the #CuatrecasasCampus #DebateTournament, a competitive training event for trainee lawyers and junior associates from all our offices. Yesterday, October 10, we welcomed the 8th edition of the #WiBCuatrecasas (“Women in Business”) conference titled “Purpose and Profit: Connect the dots” in our Lisbon auditorium.   The event brought together 90 attendees and addressed business strategies to improve the relationship between purpose and profit and their link to female talent.   Maria João Ricou, our senior partner, opened the conference emphasizing the importance of this session to reflect on the challenges and opportunities women leaders have to face and introduced Conceição Zagalo, from Fundação LIGA, who was the keynote speaker. In her dynamic presentation, she focused on gender inequality in different areas (politics, corporations, journalism, social organizations and sports) and on the need to change the game to comply with the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.   A debate followed, with insights from top managers from different industries, who shared real life experiences on corporate strategies that maximized Purpose and Profit, creating impact, generating trust, attracting talent and resulting in better customer care. We have concluded a new edition of our #FinishingStages program where newly hired senior associates and those that have been promoted in 2024, pilgrimaged to Santiago de Compostela to share their professional experiences and reflect on their future at the firm.   From September 16 to 20, a total of 28 lawyers from our offices in Barcelona, Bogotá, Lima, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Mexico City, Porto, Santiago, Vigo and Zaragoza, participated in several workshops and lectures to strengthen their knowledge and skills as lawyers. At a ceremony held this Wednesday in London, #Cuatrecasas was awarded the “Portugal Tax Litigation Law Firm of the Year” and the “Spain Tax Litigation Law Firm of the Year” at the EMEA Tax Awards, organized by ITR (International Tax Review). Last Sunday in Mexico City, we sponsored a brunch that brought together approximately 150 members of the International Bar Association (#IBA) Women Lawyers’ Committee (WLC). Co-organized with Holland & Knight LLP, Niederer Kraft Frey and Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uria, the event took place on the occasion of the IBA Annual Conference, held in the same city. The WLC aims to level the playing field in the legal profession and inspire leaders to work to achieve gender parity.
