It's Disability Pride Month!💙 To celebrate our RCE wellbeing Hub asked their students what they considered an effective ally. Here's what they said: 1. Educate themselves on the different types of disabilities and the challenges🎓 2. Advocate for accessibility in places like shops, workplaces, community spaces and online📣 3. If you see someone struggling, ask if there is anything you can do to help. However if that person politely declines, then it is important to respect this🤝 4. Be mindful of your language and don't stereotype💭 #DisabilityPrideMonth

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) reposted this
This #LearningDisabilityWeek, see how the NHS is helping to improve the experience of autistic people who visit Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This film shows the beginning of the trust’s programme to hand out care bags to people with a learning disability and autistic people who visit the hospital's emergency departments. These bags include items such as headphones and fidget spinners to help navigate what can sometimes be a stressful environment. One year on, 17 other trusts have joined the programme and thousands of bags have been given to patients across the country. If you’re a member of NHS staff, or you support someone with a learning disability, autism or both, find out how you can help make it easier for them to access health services by asking for reasonable adjustments. Keyworkers change lives by supporting families and young people with learning disabilities or autism. By the end of 2024, all eligible young people will be able to access a keyworker to help improve their lives. https://lnkd.in/egfqZb5n
