  • SUNDAY SHOUTOUTS!📣 We do hope you’ve been able to enjoy a lovely relaxing weekend so far. Here is some of the fantastic feedback our patients have shared recently, highlighting some of the amazing staff we have at the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust: “It’s six months on Friday since my stroke. I thought I was going to be in a wheelchair until the physios got to work on me. Today I did 15000 steps, including 55m of scaffolding, four times. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.” “The Countess of Chester plastic surgery team were outstanding. Whilst clearly busy, they were superbly efficient: incredibly skilled (at all levels), really 'joined up' and caring. A most impressive team, full of skills, working together in a way that you rarely see. The leadership is obviously outstanding.” “I write to absolutely commend the delicious food I have been served in CCU where I was a patient recently. Your catering staff do a fantastic job turning out tasty and nutritious meals 24/7. Not one single meal on the menu would I not have been happy to pay for in a nice restaurant” If you would like to add your own ‘Sunday Shoutout’, we would love to hear from you in the comments below. #NHSFoundationTrust #SundayShoutout

We would like to say a deeply grateful farewell to John Kingsley, our Head of Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care Services who has retired this week after 19 years of faithful service to the Trust. Over the years, John has been a compassionate presence, offering comfort and support to countless patients and staff during their most challenging moments. His kindness, dedication and unwavering commitment have left a lasting impact on so many people, and for that we say a heartfelt thank you to John. Reflecting on his time at the Trust, John said: "I get emotional about leaving, because I am so grateful. It has very much been 'rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep', and over the years there has been a lot of both." While we will miss John greatly, we wish him all the best in his retirement and are excited to welcome Holly Torr to the Trust full time as she takes over as Lead Chaplain. #ChaplaincyServices #SpiritualCare

  • Meet 8-year old Charlie, who is undertaking an incredible 20-mile walking challenge later this month in aid of the Countess Charity. 🚶👣🗺️ Charlie has been receiving care for asthma with us for several years and spending lots of time on the children's ward has inspired him to do something special to give other young patients a wider choice of toys and games on the ward. A keen walker, Charlie has set himself the ultimate challenge of walking 20 miles along the North Wales coastal path with his mum Vicky, and every penny he raises will buy new toys, games and crafts for youngsters on the children's ward to enjoy during their stay in hospital. Charlie says: "I have been in the hospital quite a lot and sometimes it can feel a bit boring, so I decided fundraise to buy some new toys for children who have to stay in even longer than me. I want to raise as much money as I can so I hope they can buy lots of toys or crafts and pens for the children to play with." Karen Flewitt, children’s unit manager at the Countess of Chester Hospital said the whole ward are incredibly touched by Charlie's kindness, adding: "His fundraising efforts will bring so much joy to the children here on the ward and the new toys will really help brighten their days and bring comfort during their time in hospital." Charlie has raised over £600 already and is keen to raise even more - you can donate to support him here: https://lnkd.in/ekaWw92d

  • Our Tissue Viability team are excited to launch a new programme for our Link Staff , which will empower them to play a key role in preventing pressure ulcers across the Trust. Link Staff members play a fundamental role in improving the Prevention of Pressure Ulcers in the Trust, proactively serving as a key link between the NHS and the community. Staff recently attended a series of workshops and presentations to help ensure every step is being taken to protect patients and prevent harm. Tissue Viability Consultant Nurse Maria Hughes said: “I started my tissue viability journey as a Link Staff member working closely with clinical nurse specialists and gained the desire to follow that as a career. Link Staff are a key link in the chain to improve patient safety and to prevent harm, along with developing those staff professionally.
