As a responsible nationwide traffic management and highways services provider, we recognised that by reducing our carbon footprint we would deliver a directly positive contribution towards our client's carbon impact too. To deliver this, we implemented a carbon reduction strategy which we are pleased to announce has resulted in a 17.6% carbon reduction (on a revenue intensity basis) during our last financial year. To achieve this, we set ambitious Net Zero commitments structured around seven goals delivering short and long-term carbon savings by working closely with our customers and supply chain, embracing technology, and driving operational efficiency. All of these initiatives were underpinned by the introduction of a carbon reduction toolkit which provides practical solutions and advice. We have set seven goals to achieve Net Zero by 2040, including focusing on our Scope 3 emissions. Our team has used data analytics to incentivise driver behaviour from our fleet telemetry, eliminated journeys by deploying digital sensors, and through early customer engagement used traffic modelling capability to reduce carbon from motorised road users. Lizi Stewart, CEO of Core Highways, said: “With carbon footprints coming under more intense scrutiny, Core Highways aims to showcase that we’re committed to decarbonising our operations and to remain a standout contender to deliver schemes nationwide. At Core we understand our responsibility to our clients and the environment, and we are delighted with the results we have achieved over the last year. Going forward we will continue to drive down our carbon output. With ambitious targets being set, we’ll work with supply chain partners and clients to accelerate our journey towards net zero.”

Core Highways opens new London office. As a nationwide traffic management and associated highways services provider, we have opened a new office in central London. The move provides us with a key location from which to serve our customers and meet the increasing demand for our traffic management and barrier services. Located within London’s Clerkenwell area, it is a central location point for our geographically disparate business, we operate from 36 locations across the North, the Midlands, Wales, the Southeast and the Southwest. The new London site provides a location for our southeast regional team to meet with customers and act as a hub connecting our teams across the country. The company’s office in Torquay becomes a shared services centre, alongside our hubs in Swansea, Garboldisham and Newport. We already have 36 operational depots nationally, truly reflecting our nationwide presence and localised capabilities. Lizi Stewart, CEO has said: “We are seeing increased demand for our services in the southeast. The office will create a great space for collaboration and connectivity, helping to bring together our people and connect with our customers. “Having brought all our subsidiaries together under one brand earlier this year, we automatically became one of the largest temporary traffic management and barrier companies in the UK, with 36 depots across England and Wales and over 1,200 employees. “It’s clear that this is the right time to formally expand our business further and open an office in London. We look forward to developing new business opportunities in the southeast and growing our operations.”

June is Pride Month and celebrates people coming together in love and friendship. It is a time to show how far LGBTQ rights have come, but also how far they have to go. This Pride Month, we’ll be recognising and standing with those who choose to live their lives freely, and that accept others for who they are. We can all play a part in helping everyone feel included at work or in everyday life, as an ally, friend or a colleague. At Core Highways, we remain #strongertogether when we work as one. #pride2024 #pridemonth

Addressing the future requirements of the infrastructure and transportation markets is fundamentally important to our business as we look to shape the sector and add value to our customers propositions. Moments like last night are a critical part of that.

An informative evening at the Science Museum, London courtesy of the Civil Engineering Contractors Association attending a business dinner hosted by Bill Esterson MP, Shadow Minister for Roads. In my role as Chair of CECA's Highway Maintenance Group this was a terrific opportunity to engage with HM Opposition and the Shadow Minister about the needs of CECA members operating in the sector and our clients. Some valuable discussions around maintenance backlog, funding mechanisms, skills and innovation, as well as the criticality of increased certainty and visibility.

The sun is shining and our teams have been out supporting our customers. Here’s an example of us keeping our client’s staff and the public safe, the public have been well informed and emergency vehicle access remained open throughout to a critical location. Just a typical Saturday for us then… Lauren Kiely KIELY BROS. LIMITED

It’s ✨surface dressing✨ darling! Today was spent in Sunny Sandwell (making all the work look even more glamorous) carrying out double dressing & racked in on behalf of the local authority ☺️☀️ We had four sites today with three sites being main routes through the borough. It’s fantastic to be working for another year alongside Sandwell Council and their excellent highways department to maintain and improve the road network. It’s wonderful to see a local authority taking such a preventative approach to their highway maintenance 👏🏼 The works were carried out under road closure with minimal disruption and main routes being opened again just hours after we arrived on site. With help from our TM Core Highways, we were able to keep the residents happy and also prioritise any emergency vehicles coming and going from Sandwell General hospital. Collaboration at it’s finest 😎 Kiely Bros LTD Sandwell Council #KielyBros #KielyGroup #Sandwell #CoreHighways #Collaboration #TeamWork #HighwayMaintenance #SurfaceDressing #SurfaceTreatments #LocalAuthority

Moving closer to better accessibility at Llanelli station as the new steel bridge deck is successfully lifted into place. Our project team safely installed the new deck with its canopy and glazing linking the staircases and landings fitted during a previous possession. The scheme is part of an investment package to improve accessibility in Wales and Borders as part of the UK Government’s Access for All programme. In the coming weeks, lift shafts will be installed followed by more access improvements, refuge areas, and new telecoms and lighting enhancements. Thanks to Network Rail Rail our specialist supply partners Adey Steel Group, MJ, BALDWINS CRANE HIRE LIMITED Core Highways and everyone involved in achieving this significant milestone.
