Here at Cora, we understand the impact outside play has on children’s development. We recognise the importance of green spaces and playground facilities in all neighbourhoods which is why they form an important part of our mission to Create Amazing Places. In fact, more than 50% of the entire garden village at Broadnook will be devoted to green spaces. After proudly announcing that Aki Mitha was shortlisted in the Housebuilder Awards 2024, we’re over the moon to announce that a further two of Cora’s employees have also been shortlisted for silverware! Samantha Starling, our Head of Marketing, and our Graduate Planner Jess O'Neil are both among finalists in this year's National Building & Construction Awards! Luke Simmons, our Managing Director, said: “Samantha, Jess and Aki are the epitome of what makes Cora great. While they all work within different departments, they all share the common traits of ambition, determination and the constant drive to develop themselves professionally.” Please join us in congratulating the trio for their achievements so far – and wish them luck in both finals this October 👏 https://lnkd.in/e9g-yvaf #CoraHomes #Awards #Shortlist

The new government has unveiled the key points behind the proposed amendments to national planning policy expected later this month. Reacting to Monday’s announcement, Robbie Locke, Head of Planning and Strategic Land at Cora, said: “I think I speak for everyone at Cora and within our supply chain, in that we warmly welcome the reintroduction of housing targets. “What we have seen in recent years has been a watering down from government on a number of fronts, particularly those related to housing targets and the duty to cooperate. As a result, there has been no desire to deal with strategic issues. “The additional 300 planning officers are a good start – but putting that into perspective nationwide, we could be looking at one officer per local authority, who could then be faced with picking up a backlog of anywhere from tens to hundreds of applications. “The push towards grey belt sites is an interesting concept, however achieving targets of 300,000 homes per year cannot be achieved without significant exploration of greenfield land. Equally important, particularly over the next five years, is the role of small and medium size sites in quickly boosting housing supply. “It would also be pleasing to see some attention given to SME housebuilders, who also have sites within their portfolios that have challenges requiring government intervention. “Overall, Monday’s announcement is the first step in a long journey to fixing the damage caused by the previous administration. Rapid action is required to see tangible results in the next five years and we’re ready to get building and start Creating Amazing Places for future communities to thrive.” More information on Cora and our approach to strategic land can be found here: https://lnkd.in/eGSVQhTT. #Planning #PlanningReform #Construction #Housebuilder #CreatingAmazingPlaces

It was great to welcome the team from Accent Group Ltd to our Lancaster Gate development this week as we handed over the keys to three new affordable homes. All of us at Cora are passionate about building affordable homes which don't only respond to the national housing crisis, but are built to the highest quality with sustainability in mind – helping reduce energy usage and keep bills down. That’s why each of these homes come complete with MVHR heat recovery systems and solar panels to boost their green credentials and minimise costs for residents. Those are just some of the reasons why people living in new build homes save as much as £183 a month on their energy bills compared to older properties (HBF Watt A Save 2024). This is a busy time at Lancaster Gate in the beautiful Bedfordshire village of Sutton. Discover more about the development here: https://lnkd.in/eGdAw5ve #LancasterGate #CreatingAmazingPlaces
