As UK Research and Innovation’s, UKRI - Industrial Decarbonisation Challenge (IDC), delivered by Innovate UK comes to a close, Copper wanted to take a moment to reflect on The Challenge. Launched in 2019 to catalyse the decarbonisation of the UK’s largest industrial clusters, the Challenge has successfully reduced emissions by: 🚨 Funding the design and development of technologies like CCUS and hydrogen switching 📈 Supporting the development of cluster plans and feasibility studies 🎓 Strengthening academic and industry collaboration through Industrial Decarbonisation Research and Innovation Centre (IDRIC) 🔬 Advancing over 100 research projects through to completion. The IDC has been a major driver in advancing the UK’s target of achieving at least four low-carbon industrial clusters by 2030 and the potential to deploy the world’s first net zero cluster by 2040. Copper is thrilled with the success of the Challenge and is proud to have supported the IDC with social media and PR communications throughout this project.
