Raising Standards, Building Trust.

About us

The Considerate Constructors Scheme works with the construction industry and the public to raise standards and build trust in construction. We are a not-for-profit, independently managed organisation. To help constructors improve their behaviours, we have created the Code of Considerate Practice which focuses on three key areas: Respecting the community; Caring for the environment; Valuing the workforce. Those registered with us make a commitment to conform to the Code and work to raise their standards above and beyond it. Whether you are a member of the public with a concern about construction activity, a contractor or supplier wanting to register your construction activity to raise your standards, or a construction client who would like your projects to register with us, we are here to help. Construction sites, companies and suppliers voluntarily register with the Scheme and agree to abide by the Code of Considerate Practice, designed to encourage best practice beyond statutory requirements. The Scheme's main areas of concern fall into three categories: the general public, the workforce and the environment. Visit our website to find out more or email [email protected]

It was an inspiring day featuring our very own Kevin Hutchinson as a speaker. We also heard from John-paul Chadderton MIoL from John Sisk & Son Ltd sharing his remarkable journey from the armed forces to thriving in the construction industry. Highlights Include : - John-paul Chadderton MIoL's Story: His journey through the Project RECCE CIO course to becoming a key figure in the build environment. - Networking Opportunities: Attendees connected with pro-forces companies like Balfour Beatty plc , Sunbelt Rentals, Inc. and Mulalley. - Support for Veterans: Many companies pledged support by signing the Armed Forces Covenant. - Leadership Growth: Veterans joined the The Institute of Leadership with complimentary memberships. We, at CCS, are proud to have sponsored this event, supporting veterans as they transition to successful careers in construction. • How do we guide members of the public and construction industry professionals to raise a Concern Over Practices at a CCS Registered Site? As managers at a CCS registered construction site, your site is fully committed to maintaining high industry standards whilst addressing any concerns that may arise. Ensuring consideration & practices are transparent are paramount for the wellbeing of the surrounding community. Here’s how members of the public and industry professionals can register their concerns should they arise: 1. By exploring local projects on the Construction Map: Encourage the public and professionals to visit our Construction Map. This platform allows them to search and view detailed information about CCS-registered construction activities, including information about constructors, suppliers, and clients involved as Contractor Partners or Client Partners. 2. By encouraging them to reach out to us directly: We recognise the impact that construction activities can have on local communities and those nearby. Our dedicated Public Support team is always ready to listen and assist. If anyone has concerns or feedback about specific construction activities, they can contact us for prompt support. Direct them to our contact page here: https://lnkd.in/eQ-fTpE8 By guiding members of the public and professionals through these steps, we aim to foster a collaborative environment where feedback is valued, and concerns are swiftly addressed. Your commitment to considerate construction practices is strengthened by the active participation and input from the community. #communityvalues #constructionindustry #ukconstruction

  • Revolutionising Workplace Health: Tackling VOCs for a Safer Future Indoor air quality is a growing concern, with many workplaces plagued by high levels of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). These emissions, commonly found in building materials and furnishings, can cause significant health issues, including respiratory problems and long-term illnesses. Traditional construction methods often fail to address this critical issue, leaving employees exposed to harmful pollutants. Determined to create the world’s healthiest workplace, Overbury set out to drastically reduce VOC levels in their new project. This ambitious vision required pushing the boundaries of current health and safety standards, challenging their supply chain to deliver solutions that ensure both performance and safety. Through innovative thinking and rigorous testing, the client introduced two groundbreaking products: - Thorpes 18mm MDF: This product, faced with pure timber veneer and finished with a clear semi-matt Euro class B lacquer, meets Euro class B standards while maintaining impressively low VOC emissions. It represents a significant step forward in creating healthier indoor environments. - Altro Whiterock: A high-performance PVC wall cladding solution that passed stringent VOC testing, ensuring minimal emissions. This product not only meets but exceeds current health and safety expectations. Additionally, the adhesives and lacquer components used in these products are sourced from companies with ISO 14001 integrated management systems, underscoring a commitment to environmental sustainability. By addressing the VOC issue head-on, this project is setting a new benchmark for workplace health, showcasing how innovation and determination can lead to safer, more sustainable environments. This initiative is a shining example of prioritising well-being and of pushing the industry forward.
