An important rite of passage at Concert Bio is loading your first Flow Cell! We've all done it, regardless of previous lab experience - from the CEO through to our data team! This week it was Oliver Baker's turn. As our Research Greenhouse Manager, he won't be doing this too regularly as part of his day job... But definitely now has the skills!!🌱 👨🔬 🙌 #teamculture #oneofthegang #oxfordnanoporetechnologies #flowcell #DNAsequencing #microbiome
🔊 Event News! 🍒 🍅 🥒 Our CEO Paul Rutten and Research Greenhouse Manager Oliver Baker will be at #fruitfocus2024 at NIAB on 10th July. We're excited to talk to growers about the impact of managing your microbiomes, and to share how we can help. Our booth is up and running at the Indoor AgTech Innovation Summit this week, come by to visit if you want to talk all things microbes in indoor agriculture! 🦠🌱 #CEA #ConcertBio #Indoorag #Microbiome
We are excited to be partnering with the Jiffy Group to understand and take control of the microbiome in CEA substrates! 🦠🌱 Substrate plays a key role in the microbiome of indoor farms. Collaborating with the Jiffy Group will help us get unparalleled insights into this, and how we can use substrate to take control of the CEA microbiome. This partnership is another step forward in our mission at Concert Bio to enable CEA growers to harness their microbes for better growing. We look forward to making a positive impact together! #CEA #Microbiome #Agritech #Indoorag #JiffyGroup #ConcertBio #Sustainability
Jiffy is always looking for ways to offer the best products to our clients, which is why we are thrilled to announce that Concert Bio is joining forces with the Jiffy Group to revolutionize the way CEA growers manage their (substrate) microbiomes. 🌱🔬 Together, we're exploring the benefits of natural substrate materials to improve our solutions for growers! This collaboration brings cutting-edge microbiome analysis to CEA substrates, leveraging Concert Bio's expertise in metagenomic sequencing and Jiffy Group's advanced substrate technologies. By combining our strengths, we will provide hydroponic growers with deeper insights into their microbial communities, helping them optimize their growing conditions and enhance crop yields. We are excited to expand and explain more about microbial communities in CEA systems and open new opportunities for research and innovation. Stay tuned for updates on our progress and the innovative solutions we are bringing to the CEA industry! We can't wait to share our exciting discoveries and further our mission to support resilient, sustainable growing practices. 🎉 Team News 🎉 This week we are super excited to welcome Oliver Baker to the Concert Bio team! Oliver joins us from The National Light Growing Centre in Warwick, where he headed up the RIPEHouse project, gaining a ton of experience in growing hydroponically, conducting plant trials and managing greenhouses. As our new Research Greenhouse Manager, Oliver will be spearheading the set up, commissioning and running of our very own growing facility, managing our in-house plant trials and building out our greenhouse team. Welcome to the team, Oliver - we're very happy to have found you!
#Hiring!! Another exciting opportunity to join our fantastic team in #whitecity #london. This time we are looking for a Plant Microbiome Scientist to support Stacey Vincent, PhD and team with all aspects of our research. https://lnkd.in/e_R4YfiX
We're delighted that Oliver Baker is joining us to lead our greenhouse team at NIAB EMR. His extensive background in different crops is not only a huge contribution to our expertise as a team, it's a statement of intent for where we're going next. We'll be hiring to expand that team soon, reach out to us if you want to be part of what Oliver is building! 🌿
Big day today. Three years, four months and a handful of days ago I started working in the Natural Light Growing Centre at the Stratford Upon Avon Innovation Campus as a Agricultural Assistant picking cucumbers to pay for my masters in Sustainable Crop Production. Since then I have moved through various roles within CHAP and RIPE: Crop Supervisor, Horticultural Research Officer, Project Lead and Horticultural Research Manager, and finally, General Manager. I've grown cucumbers, peppers, chillies, tomatoes, herbs, strawberries and all sorts else. Highlights in this period include leading on the RIPEHouse project and developing RIPEs 3rd generation double glazed ETFE panels. This has been a huge learning experience and I've gain volumes of wonderful experiences and knowledge. I'd like to thank all those who I have worked alongside over this time, you've helped shape my career into something I have thoroughly enjoyed so far. I'm very excited for my next challenge at Concert Bio as their new Research Greenhouse Manager in East Malling. I can't wait for all the new learning this will bring.
Today Paul Rutten is at Greentech Amsterdam talking to growers and industry professionals about how we can help harness the power of the #microbiome in #hydroponics. Pop along to stand 05.112J to chat to Paul (and to grab one of our very cool krona plot posters showing the microbial composition of hydroponic systems!) 🌱 🇳🇱 #greentech2024 with The Commercial Horticultural Association
