It is Alzheimer's Month... We are so proud of our dementia services here at Community Links, which are delivered in partnership across most areas in West Yorkshire including, Leeds, Kirklees, Bradford, and Calderdale. 💛💙💜🧡 Each service is slightly different, and provides information and advice for people who are living with dementia, their carers, family, and friends. You can find out more about our services here.. https://lnkd.in/exJVhrAG We have even published our very own cook book called Eating Well with Dementia which can be bought here... https://lnkd.in/eF9KN8bB All our services are aware that people from ethnic minority communities can face many barriers to accessing diagnosis and support and that leaflets are not always the best way to reach people, so have developed links locally to our diverse communities to ensure our services can be accessed by all who need them. #FacingDementiaTogether #AlzheimersMonth Sharon Kumar - Sehdev CMgr MCMI Ruth Kettle

Maltings Close has had a busy year! This summer it started a new weekly Walking Group. 🚶♂️🚶 Clients have been participating and have the option of a long, medium or short walk with different routes. Clients get to decide the route they wish to take. This was to encourage physical exercise, community exploration and building connections. 🌻🌴🌲 One client said that: ''This group is a great opportunity to get out of the house and go for a walk.'' It is lovely to see our clients and colleagues moving for their mental health, exploring and building positive relationships. May they continue whilst the sun is shining! 🌞 https://lnkd.in/eKc39pQj #MaltingsClose

The night of 22 to 23 August 1791, in Santo Domingo (now Haiti and the Dominican Republic) saw the beginning of the uprising that would play a crucial role in the abolition of the transatlantic slave trade. It is an opportunity for collective consideration of historic causes, the consequences of this tragedy and to reflect on the relationships between Africa, America and the Caribbean and Europe. International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition is intended to inscribe the tragedy of the transatlantic slave trade in the memory of all peoples. https://lnkd.in/e5fjPWct We are reaffirming our commitments to being an anti-racism organisation and to diversity and inclusion. #SlaveTrade #Abolition #History UNESCO

Today is World Humanitarian Day! 🌏❤️ Observed annually on August 19th, today honours the selfless dedication of aid workers worldwide. This day also commemorates the tragic loss of lives in the 2003 Baghdad bombing, which claimed the lives of many humanitarian workers. The day aims to raise awareness of the critical work humanitarians perform in conflict zones and disaster-stricken areas. It also calls for increased support and protection for these brave individuals who often work in perilous conditions. To support the humanitarian cause in the UK, individuals can: •Donate: Contribute to UK-based humanitarian organizations like ActionAid (https://actionaid.org.uk/) or the Disasters Emergency Committee (https://www.dec.org.uk/). •Advocate: Raise awareness about the plight of those in need and encourage others to support humanitarian efforts. •Volunteer: Offer your time and skills to UK-based humanitarian organizations. •Educate yourself: Learn about humanitarian crises and the work being done to address them. •Support policies: Advocate for policies that support humanitarian aid and protection. By taking action, you can contribute to creating a more compassionate and just world.❤️🌏 #Humanitarians #Compassion
