We are thrilled to announce that Colt DCS has launched an exciting new initiative to support and develop local talent by offering work experience opportunities to students. This summer, we are proud to welcome our first work-experience student from the GURU NANAK SIKH ACADEMY LIMITED school in Hayes, which is located directly opposite our London 4 data centre site. As part of our ongoing commitment to #communityengagement and the development of future professionals, we have established a comprehensive work experience programme. This initiative is designed to provide students with valuable insights and hands-on experience in the data centre industry. Our first student joined the Technology department on Monday, for a week-long work experience placement, spending time assisting the Business Applications and Infrastructure teams, as well as a planned visit to one of our London data centres. We are delighted to have our Work Experience programme up and running and would like to thank our HR and Technology Departments, and the Guru Nanak Sikh Academy School for bringing it to fruition. #workexperience #workplacement #studentplacement #stemcareers #datacentres #greatplacetowork

We are thrilled to kick-start our data centre expansion plans in Hayes by developing our design and our engagement with the community. We plan to install a large piece of artwork on the west facade of our data centre. Rather than go to an artist directly, we involved the local community and approached the GURU NANAK SIKH ACADEMY LIMITED. We wanted to allow children within the community the opportunity to design a masterpiece for our planned data centre. In early June, together with our art consultants, Contemporary Art Society, we launched an art competition at the Guru Nanak Sikh Academy school for 25 Year 9 students. Vaida Jogminaite, Development Manager at Colt DCS, introduced students to the project and explained 'What is a data centre?' and 'What is Colt DCS constructing next door to the school?'. Our architect studioNWA followed with insights into 'What goes into a data centre?' and a representative from the London Borough of Hillingdon highlighted 'The importance of visible art in the community'. Following the kick-off, we conducted three interactive workshops with artist, James Lambert. These sessions allowed students to express their creativity and learn about the artistic process. The competition will be concluded in September, three art designs will be shortlisted with the final winner chosen by the London Borough of Hillingdon. This initiative not only enhances our project, but also fosters a deeper connection with the local community. We are all excited to see the outcome of this fantastic initiative. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue this exciting journey with our local partners. Matthew Grant MRICS #communityengagement #datacentres #hayes #londondatacentre #artcompetition

At Colt DCS we embrace diversity. Pride Month is a time for us to celebrate, educate and raise awareness around the struggles and discrimination, LGBTQ communities experience. We want to ensure our staff can all bring their true selves to work, in an environment which is inclusive for all. Over the month, we’ve celebrated Pride by raising awareness and understanding. We’ve shared information to all colleagues on what Pride is, related resources, and our top picks for LGBTQ books, podcasts and TV shows. We have also shared ways in which we can all be more inclusive: • Pronouns: sharing our pronouns (they/them, she/her, he/him) is an easy way to support transgender and non-binary people and it removes the chance of mis-gendering people. • Education: Knowledge is power, taking the time to research LGBTQ history. • Be respectful: A person’s sexual orientation or gender should never be questioned. This week we held a cake sale at our London HQ with cupcakes from the Hummingbird bakery. 10% of all donations were made to the AKT charity who help fight against LGBTQ youth homelessness. Our team in Japan organised a ‘Happy Pride Day and Happy Hour’ where colleagues were invited to wear colourful clothes and bring along sweets and candy to make a collective rainbow bowl. As Pride month comes to an end, we continue to reaffirm our commitment to creating a culture, where our employees feel valued, everyday. #pride #pridemonth #inclusion #diversity #greatplacetowork #employerofchoice #WeAreOneDCS

We place great importance on the Wellbeing of our staff. Tomorrow is the 2nd out of 4 Wellbeing Days planned for this year, which is given to staff in addition to annual leave. Our colleagues can use Wellbeing Days however they wish, whether it’s to rest, recharge or unwind. Why do we do this? We know that Wellbeing Days give our people a well deserved break, so they can return to work, doing what they enjoy and do best. We hope staff use their Wellbeing Day to focus on themselves and enjoy the long weekend 😉 #wellbeingmatters #wellbeingday #greatplacetowork #employerofchoice #coltdcs #WeAreHyperscale https://lnkd.in/gzv5Cwp

Colt DCS and our construction partner TClarke sponsored the Hayes Canal Festival 2024 for a second year running. The event, offering free entertainment, canoeing, paddle boarding and boat rides to the local community was again a resounding success. The event was well managed by the Canal and River Trust with many local charities in attendance, including the Hillingdon Hospital Radio, local Police, Fire brigade, local library, Hayes Town Partnership and Uxbridge College to name a few. Matthew Grant MRICS Development Director at Colt DCS was in attendance. It was a fantastic day and great to see the local community having fun and enjoying what the canal has to offer. These types of events bring communities together and help break down barriers. #hayescanalfestival #hayes #hillingdonevents #community #communitysupport #londondatacentre

Following the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake in Japan at the start of the year, our teams have helped to fundraise for those affected by the devastation. Recently, some of our colleagues travelled to Ishikawa to offer their help and support on-site, as part of our CSR activity. Our colleagues were split into groups, amongst other volunteers and spent their time helping individuals and families move to temporary housing and setting up supplies for the short term (about 300 houses). They also helped clean up demolished walls and wooden pillars, which were damaged or destroyed by the earthquake and clean chopsticks at the traditional Wajima nuri chopstick store. Almost six months on from the tragedy, however, many people are still in need of welfare and support, both donations and physical help. The team were humbled to support the local people, engage with them and make a difference. #csr #corporatesocialresponsibility #charity #volunteering #notoearthquake #japan
