Have you heard of GAIA, a $1.5B dollar blended finance platform? GAIA enables the deployment of long-term loans into climate adaptation and mitigation investments from sources previously not available to the markets which need it the most. Building partnerships between business, government and public bodies to accelerate international sustainable development
About us
Climate Action was founded in 2007 and is based in London, UK. Climate Action was originally founded as a formal partnership with UN Environment – the world’s foremost body on environmental protection and stewardship. Climate Action now works with network of UN Agencies, major donors, governments, NGOs', intergovernmental organisations and over 1000 private sector companies. Our goal is to facilitate partnerships between these key stakeholders in order to accelerate the global green economy and achieve the objectives of the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals. We are working in partnership with UNEP Finance Initiative on a programme of sustainable finance forums under the brand Sustainable Investment Forum which aim to increase Sustainable Responsible Investment (SRI) by major asset owners, investors and asset managers. We do this through a series of award winning forums, advocacy activity, webinars and digital and social communities.

NDCs 3.0 are a vital opportunity to get back on track with a 1.5°C trajectory, if they are progressive and, importantly, thorough. The Climate Action Coalition held its first roundtable on Tuesday during #ClimateWeekNYC, bringing together climate leaders from across the private sector, academia, and civil society organisations to consider how non-state entities can be better involved in implementing the NDCs and how their impact can be amplified. Led by Chair of the Coalition, Rt Hon Chris Skidmore, and Catherine McKenna, Canada’s former Minister of Environment and Climate Change and Chair of the UN Secretary-General’s High-Level Expert Group on Net-Zero Commitments of Non-State Entities, the roundtable convened alongside the Sustainable Investment Forum North America. As a competitive swimmer, Catherine opened the discussion by sharing what that experience taught her about confronting the challenges of tackling climate change and discussed the barriers and opportunities for non-state entities in delivering their net zero pledges and aligning action with climate goals in order to implement the forthcoming NDCs. The dynamic conversation explored the benefits of cross-sector and cross-border collaboration - to break down siloes and accelerate impact – and the power of positive examples in pushing forward. CHEERS to counting down to COP29 With just 47 days to go until COP29, Climate Action was delighted to host the Countdown to COP Reception last night, bringing together members of the global climate community during Climate Week NYC. The lively evening welcomed new friends and old, for informal networking, cocktails and canapes – plus plentiful beers courtesy of the event sponsor AB InBev. Taking place in the iconic Ziegfeld Ballroom following the Sustainable Investment Forum North America, guests heard inspirational addresses from the Rt Hon Chris Skidmore, Ingrid De Ryck and Sir Alok Sharma KCMG.
