Starting from 2025 7️⃣0️⃣ % of your European voyage carbon emissions need to be covered by EUAs. As of 1st January 2024, vessels over 5,000 GT entering, leaving, or operating within an EU port have been included in the EU ETS and are required to cover 40% of their emissions with EUAs. This requirement will increase to 70% starting from 1st January 2025. • Are you aware of your emissions per voyage? • Do you understand your exposure based on current market prices? • Is your MOHA/Trading Registry account open? • Are you set up to trade EUAs? At Clarksons, we are actively broking Carbon, including the regulated EU ETS market and voluntary offsets. Our Carbon Broking team Duncan Lyall and Conor Boon can provide you with access to market prices and guide you through the administration and documentation process.

From 11 to 15 November 2024, CLARKSONS SA will proudly co-lead the inaugural Dry Bulk Mercy Week in support of Mercy Ships . Building on the success of Mercy Ships Cargo Day, which is currently ongoing and primarily supported by the tanker industry, CLARKSONS SA, along with esteemed competitors ARROW, BRS, and IFCHOR GALBRAITHS, convened more than fifteen major dry bulk industry principals in Geneva a few weeks ago. Together, they agreed to support this noble cause and initiated this dry bulk-focused effort. This initiative aims to garner more support from the dry bulk industry specifically and is open to all market participants and brokers. The goal is to contribute to Mercy Ships' mission of providing free, life-changing medical care to communities in Africa with limited healthcare access. This dedicated week invites charterers, shipowners, shipbrokers, and others to pledge donations or contribute a portion of their commissions to help those in need. To participate, please reach out to your CLARKSONS broker to discuss ways you can make an impact. We warmly welcome other industry participants to join this cause. To contribute, visit Mercy Ships' donation page. https://lnkd.in/g2W4pjz

We had a brilliant evening at the Centrepoint Awards last night which recognises the incredible achievements of the young people that Centrepoint supports. Clarksons was proud to sponsor the ‘Independent Living Award’ which shines a light on individuals demonstrating significant independence despite facing personal or societal challenges. Jeff Woyda represented Clarksons in the award which went to an inspiring young man named Andrew who has thrived in managing his own life with resilience, demonstrated self-sufficiency, and served as an example of determination and capability! Congratulations Andrew, and also to everyone at Centrepoint for the invaluable work that you do.

We’d highly recommend clearing 30 mins in your diary this Wednesday (16 October) and registering for BIMCO’s webinar featuring our own Kenneth Tveter who will be sharing the latest highlights in the alternative fuels debate. See post below for details! #fueltransition #greentransition #shippingfuel #shipping
Should you go for Methanol or Ammonia – or LNG? Future fuel choices for shipping are sparking debate, with LNG, Methanol, and Ammonia leading the charge. LNG offers immediate reductions in emissions, positioning itself as a cleaner option for today's vessels, while e-fuels have potential to be a longer term solution. Winds are turning against methanol while ammonia is gaining momentum. The choice between these fuels will shape the future of maritime sustainability, as the industry balances innovation with practicality. Join Kenneth Tveter, Global Head of Green Transition at Clarksons, who in this 15 15 webinar will help you take your decision. Chithra Mary Eapen, Senior Dry Bulk Market Analyst for Clarksons Singapore is speaking at ‘Pilbara Ports Safe Ships Safe Ports Forum’ later this month in Perth. Speaking on the freight markets specific to Northwest Australia, Chithra’s paper will be focussing on the Capesize fleet and iron ore trades. She will look at whether the relatively low average age of vessels calling at Pilbara Ports could come under threat from an ageing fleet profile for this sector.
