Leading figures from the business, finance, law, education, medicine, literature, and diversity and inclusion sectors have been awarded the Freedom of the City of London during a group ceremony, hosted by Lord Mayor Professor Michael Mainelli. Today’s ceremony – the third and final event of its kind to be held this year - brought together 37 recipients to be honoured at the Lord Mayor’s official residence, The Mansion House, for outstanding achievements in their respective fields. The awards were given as part of the Lord Mayor’s ‘Connect to Prosper’ theme, which focuses on the City's expertise in areas such as finance, law, and engineering, and brings together experts to work on critical global challenges, such as climate change and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Speaking after the ceremony, Lord Mayor Professor Michael Mainelli said: "Representing such a wide range of fields of expertise and backgrounds, these remarkable individuals have enriched the Square Mile’s diverse tapestry with their impressive achievements and contributions to public life and in our view, their Freedom awards are richly deserved." #FreedomOfTheCityOfLondon #ConnectToProsper https://bit.ly/48txWx0

Good luck to Ben Melham, who visited Guildhall Art Gallery this morning, as part of his attempt to set a new Guinness World Records record for visiting as many museums as possible in 24 hours. Here he is posing - but, perhaps not for very long - next to Rossetti's masterpiece, 'La Ghirlandata, one of the most popular paintings in the City of London Corporation's extensive art collection. #DestinationCity Mortice Consulting

Thank you to all who joined our AI Future Workforce Impacts Panel Event! With opening remarks from Keith Bottomley CC, we heard from industry leaders Deborah O'Neill FBCS (Oliver Wyman), Matthew Yerbury (KPMG), Prag Sharma (Citi), and Pramod Appukuttan (Worldpay) sharing their insights on AI's impact on the Financial and Professional Services sector. Thank you to our panellists for their expertise and passionate discussion and to all attendees for making this an engaging session. Key takeaways include: - AI skills go beyond technical expertise – combining specialist expertise with AI tools will drive value for firms. - There is no single ‘biggest’ barrier for addressing upskilling needs. Firms need to evaluate their needs, communicate their priorities and create a positive culture of learning for AI adoption. - To keep building specialised skills in an AI-driven world, we should rethink how experienced workers share their knowledge with others. The conversation doesn’t end here - What do you think are the biggest barriers to AI upskilling?
