Thank you to the Bureau of International Recycling for the increasing focus on textiles recycling. This is a market set for huge transformation with automated sorting, paving the way for regional fibre to fibre recycling. Our CEO Cyndi Rhoades was delighted open the discussion led by Alan Wheeler Textile Recycling Association with Martin Böschen TEXAID, Robert van de Kerkhof @ PEPPER-i2, Maud HARDY Refashion. #BIRCopenhagen2024 https://lnkd.in/eduQpPVM
Bureau of International Recycling Copenhagen 2024 shining the spotlight on #textilescircularity last week. Very stimulating panel discussion with Martin Böschen from TEXAID, Robert van de Kerkhof from Pepper-i2, Maud HARDY from Refashion and facilitated by the delightfully knowledgable and characterful Alan Wheeler from Textile Recycling Association. Key take aways: while today's textile recycling industry is at breaking point due to challenges with the reusable volumes and markets, automated sorting systems for non-reusable textiles are essential to paving the way for Fibre to Fibre recycling and will open the door for significant environmental benefits and economic opportunities, regionally and globally. Investment in infrastructure & scaleable recycling technologies, transformative collaboration projects like Innovate UK funded ACT UK and policy advancements, including France's textile EPR programme are playing a part in shifting the sometimes slow but prevalent needle towards progress. With special thanks to Bureau of International Recycling for putting the importance of moving to circular textiles centre stage and for the participants who joined the conversation. #circulartextiles Circle-8 Textile Ecosystems
