Farm Provider of BNG Units

About us

Family farm provider of BNG Units at Marbury in South Cheshire (sitting within the Shropshire, Cheshire & Staffordshire Plain National Character Area). We have been conservation farmers for over 30 years involved in various government agri-environment schemes and self funded habitat creation areas to support local wildlife and nature. We have teamed up with Tyler Grange to take our next steps on the conservation journey by producing a habitat management plan over approximately 25 acres of our farm. This is Phase 1 of our biodiversity net gain offsite scheme with the enhancement/creation of poor modified grassland through to moderate neutral meadow grassland, thereby generating approximately 40 biodiversity units. We intend to start establishing the first area of this phase this autumn and will be providing updates as we progress on this exciting venture. For further information and any queries, please do not hesitate to reach out (welcome to e-mail '[email protected]' also).

Well the rain doesn’t seem to stop! However, we are excited about the aquatic opportunities on the farm - following an inspiring visit from the local The Rivers Trust last week reviewing our ditches, brooks, ponds, wet grassland and Shropshire Union Canal tributaries. We will soon be offering watercourse and related BNG units to support organisations/development needs, whilst improving the Weaver & Gowy catchment with features such as scrapes and leaky dams.

I am delighted to announce that our BNG Marketplace is officially live and accessible for all! It has been a huge task. Establishing a marketplace is hard enough. Establishing a marketplace for an industry that isn’t even live yet has been an enormous undertaking, and I couldn’t be prouder of the Gaia Team and what they have accomplished. After a successful beta stage, as of today, our BNG marketplace is live and ready for use. We have over 20,000 Units on there already with more being added every week. With Units across all regions of the UK and across all the broad habitats, it is the perfect place for anyone looking for BNG support. Whether buying or selling, the Gaia Marketplace is completely free to use. You can begin searching now: https://lnkd.in/ebaz2YWs #BNG #biodiversitynetgain #biodiversityunit

With the February BNG date getting closer, what is the general feel in the industry/sector? Lucky to have influential people following our page, so it would be great to hear your latest thoughts. Will the voluntary/ESG related market stengthen in the interim? Will developers find innovative ways to resolve biodiversity commitments rather than using the offsite market? Which habitats hold the most interest in the market? So many more…..

We are preparing for the imminent Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) initiative as the Government reveals its Planning Policy Guidance. From pre-commencement planning conditions to considerations for decision makers, the landscape is evolving. At Tyler Grange, we are exploring how these changes will shape our approach to habitat creation and the process of development planning. As soon as we know anything, you will know too. There is no need to worry about these changes when you’re working with us, it’s what we’re here for! Let's embrace the nuances and work towards a greener, more sustainable future! 🌍💚 #BNG #SustainableDevelopment #BioDiversityNetGain

Every day there appears to be a new organisation offering biodiversity/BNG units. It’s important for any developer/interested party to check these offers for a real connection with land and what biodiversity improvements will realistically be achieved. Landowners and farmers who understand how to manage their land, know the soils and what conservation efforts will be feasible - offer a clear tangible solution to support companies/developers needs in compliance with BNG and to further their ESG agenda. Please do reach out for an open discussion on what Cheshire Biodiversity can offer.

Following numerous conversations over the last few weeks regarding BNG, it is apparent that everyone’s biodiversity requirements are unique. Furthermore, tangible habitat creation/enhancement which supports people and businesses in the rural economy contributes so much more than BNG - every organisation’s environmental, social and governance agenda can be improved by investing in farming conservation projects. For a bespoke approach to your company’s needs, feel free to reach out for an open discussion. Always happy for a farm tour and coffee in our meeting room too! Have a good weekend
