Channel 4 is a publicly-owned and commercially-funded UK public service broadcaster.
About us
Channel 4 is a unique and distinctive part of the UK. Publicly owned but entirely commercial and self-sufficient, our public-service remit mandates us to take risks and offer alternative programming, commissioning all of our programmes externally. We’re home to the UK’s biggest free streaming service, and a network of 12 television channels. We have the youngest-skewing PSB channel in the UK – and we reach more 16-34-year-olds than any other commercial broadcaster across TV and streaming. Through Film4, we back creative excellence and invest in British filmmakers, to huge critical acclaim – Film4 films have produced 138 Oscar nominations and 35 wins in our 38-year history. We bring to life new creative ideas and, in the process, create thousands of jobs and support hundreds of independent production companies across the UK. Channel 4 is built on strong foundations. Since we were created in 1982, we have been at the centre of national conversations and have been instrumental in creating a truly world-beating production sector. Channel 4's new Future4 strategy builds upon our strong track record of digital innovation and will accelerate Channel 4’s pivot to digital by driving both online viewing and new revenues. It’s an ambitious and comprehensive plan to transform Channel 4 into a digital PSB that retains its distinctive brand and public service impact.

🌟 Mirror on Transgender People: A call for better brand representation 🌟 Channel 4's latest "Mirror on the Industry" series reveals a critical gap in how brands support the transgender community, with only 1 in 10 transgender people feeling supported. The report concludes that representation and the general public’s awareness of transgender issues could be simultaneously improved by brands adopting a range of steps: 💼 Hiring more transgender talent for on-screen advertising roles. 🏳️🌈 Make transgender identity secondary to the ad narrative, showcasing their lives authentically. 👉🏻 Avoid portraying transgender people as a single, homogenous group. Let's work towards authentic representation and stand firm against online backlash to support the transgender community. 🌈 For the full report please get in touch at: [email protected] Channel 4 Karo Healthcare #Channel4 #MirrorOnTheIndustry #TransgenderRepresentation #IndustryInsights

What a night! An outstanding all night team presenting on C4 for 12 hours of advertising-free-non-stop coverage, analysis, expertise and even some fun. Amazing work from all on the Channel 4 team including re-branding the Channel to the Channel 4th, the ‘Be Lazy, Just Vote’ campaign and all the preparation. Stunning work prepping such a great studio set and line-up and I am a bit tired this morning but utterly THRILLED that viewers recognised out fresh way of doing things and switched over to watch our coverage. We also had some spectacular feisty moments of the night from such a great line-up of presenters and experts. Well done Louisa Compton Ian Rumsey Vicky Owens Rachel Corp FRSA krishnan guru-murthy Gary Gibbon Emily Maitlis!! The Rest is Politics team were incredible and Hannah Fry was indeed a ‘mathematician, broadcaster and all-round bad-ass’. Channel 4 becomes Channel 4th ahead of the election, as we call on people to “be lazy, just vote” with our nationwide election campaign. So get ready to do the most by doing the least and head to your local polling station on 4th July. Developed by Channel 4’s in-house award-winning creative agency, 4creative, the campaign sees the on-air channel graphic (the bug), Channel 4 idents and continuity become 4th between July 1st and July 4th. In addition, the iconic ‘Giant 4’ installation outside its London office forms part of a “vote on the 4th” message displayed on the building. Channel 4 will then be with you throughout the General Election night to cover all the action and will feature a high-profile line-up providing expert analysis and commentary.
