Thank you to everyone who contributed and came to our #LabourConference24 fringe event yesterday. Our Building the Right Support Position Paper sets out some of the actions we think are needed to end the scandal of autistic people and people with a learning disability being detained in locked settings. As our panel said, a whole system change is needed which prioritises community investment (see the work of our members as to what’s possible and why, plus British Association of Social Workers Homes not Hospitals campaign), is supported by legislative change and the Care Quality Commission using its powers to challenge ATUs who do not prioritise swift assessments and strong links with community provision. The Disability Minister committed to use his cross government role to champion change and we’ll continue working with partners to keep a spotlight on this as we look to the Mental Health Bill and beyond. https://lnkd.in/eTJe88rB #TransformingCare #BuildingTheRightSupport
