Last night, we threw the spotlight on gaming and its links to mental health at our Science Speakeasy 🎮 A huge thank you to our amazing panel who shared their views and contributed to such an insightful debate - Sahar Mirhadi, Nick Ballou, Julia Spinola and Nicola Whitton 👏 And thanks as always to our brilliant chair Alistair Ford. Had a great time at the International Centre for Life summer party, and loved seeing the new Earth Defenders! 360° immersive dome show. A great fun intro for kids about space surveillance and tracking, dripping with eighties animation influences and a synth-infused soundtrack.

Last weekend, our visitors had the chance to meet STEM professionals and learn about our planet’s history and its future through hands-on activities 🌍✨ For the scientists and engineers, it’s a chance to engage the public with their work and raise awareness. Big thanks to our friends at Newcastle University, Northumbria University and Durham University for helping us put the spotlight on our wonderful Earth at this special one-day event.

Thanks to funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, we've been able to put on a range of different activities for our Sunshine Families over the summer holidays! ☀ We've got some exciting things lined up and we'll be revealing all in this week's column, which will be published online and in The Chronicle on Friday. 🎉 Our family events allow our community to take part in fun activities and create precious memories in a welcoming environment, where price and access aren't barriers. 🌻 For example, we were very kindly invited to International Centre for Life on Saturday for their 'Spotlight on... Our Earth' day. We took 41 individuals to enjoy a day out where they could explore the centre at their own leisure, speak to real-life scientists and see all the new features and additions they've made, including their new planetarium show, 'Earth Defenders'. 🌎🚀🌠 Our families had a great time and what a perfect way to shelter from the rain!
