Free Geographical Information Systems for FLOW Workshop on the 29th of August! This course is an introduction to GIS for beginners and takes attendees through a guided tutorial with supported independent tasks modelling real-world data. After the course you will understand how to use GIS, where to find data, and be equipped with the tools to keep learning at your own pace. Attendees of the course rated it excellent and gave the following reviews: "The approach of the presenter was very inclusive, friendly and helpful. The exercises were well thought out, applied to the work area and presented with guidance through the tricky parts. Provided a great introduction to QGIS, it’s functionality and pointers toward useful data. The training team were friendly and supportive. Thank you!" "The course was a really great introduction to GIS, that as a complete beginner has provided me with the tools to go out and practice and play with the software in my own time. Often with these tools, you just need a leg up to get started, and google and stack exchange helps with the rest! Course was well paced, and not too fast to keep up with." #UKSPF #CIOSGOODGROWTH This project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Cornwall Council has been chosen by Government as a Lead Authority for the fund and is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

It is critical that Government clear the backlog of Harbour Orders as a matter of urgency and ensure that timeframes are sensible. Four year delays deter investment and development and it's positive that this is being recognised by the media at such a busy time.
Strong coverage in The Guardian of quite a niche issue today - British Ports Association and individual members sounding the alarm on the urgent need to get on top of harbour orders. These consents are necessary to modernise port powers as well as expand port limits and infrastructure. Government should be ensuring all but the most complex applications are processed in months, not years, if we want UK ports to remain competitive and reap the social and economic benefits from the energy transition. https://lnkd.in/eDDnNKg5
