The voice for water consumers. We're here to help you.
About us
We are the independent representative of household and business water consumers in England and Wales. Our role is to champion the interests of water consumers and make sure that their views are put at the very heart of decision making across the water industry and in UK and Welsh Government. We provide free advice to consumers and keep them informed on the issues that affect their water and sewerage services. Our consumer relations team also take up the complaints of household, business and other non-household customers when they are unable to resolve them directly with their water company. We aim to settle 70% of complaints within 20 working days and 85% within 40 working days and we have been successful in achieving this. All of our work costs each water bill payer about 21p per year. Over the past week, the new government has been setting out the changes it wants to see to the water sector. Our Chair, Rob Wilson, sets out in his latest blog how we're working alongside Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to improve water services for customers. https://orlo.uk/bxnxh

We're looking forward to working with Defra to help design these powerful new customer panels. Listening to people's lived experience and the issue they face is a great way to change company culture to focus more on people and less on profit. This is good news for the environment, too. We know that customers want to see companies taking better care of the environment, but at the moment, only a third of them are satisfied with companies' efforts to protect it. It's a 'Gardeners' World Live' special this week on 'Waterfall', bringing you two fascinating interviews recorded at the event last month. First up is Malcolm Moodie, chairman and vice president of the Solihull and District Orchid Society, who discusses why orchids are so unique in their water needs and also shares some tips on conserving this most precious resource whilst gardening. We then chat to visionary gardener, Josh Fenton, who gives us a personal tour of his gold-award winning, water-efficient show garden, 'Lunatica'. We want to hear your views on ways to improve the eligibility criteria and support provided by the WaterSure scheme. Our call for input sets out some ideas which we hope will spark a discussion on the road to us developing recommendations to submit to Defra and the Welsh Government early next year. Please don’t miss the chance to help shape future changes https://orlo.uk/upi1e

We’re pleased to welcome Defra’s announcement today. It will benefit hundreds of thousands of people a year and further incentivises companies to get things right first time for all customers. Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs

CCW Chief Executive Mike Keil said: "If customers are going to be asked to pay considerably more, they have a right to expect far more in return." Tomorrow marks an important day for consumers and the water industry. Ofwat will be announcing its draft determinations - setting out how much water companies are likely to be able to raise bills over the next five years. https://orlo.uk/0o6RU
