Chemistry MChem with a year in industry

Year in Industry update! I have completed my CCNSG Safety Passport ECITB training course at CATCH. This is necessary for me start working on site at Phillips 66 UK. During the course I learnt a lot about safety from risks and hazards, working in confined spaces and working from height to name a few. This was the last step before I start my placement next week. The start date is getting closer and I just cannot wait to start and get involved. I would like to thank CATCH for the two days I attended the training course and Phillips 66 UK for sending me on the course. #yearinindustry #safety #training #refinery #chemistry

What a lovely review from Zakaria Cheklat kudos to our fabulous trainer Andy Naden!

    MChem Chemistry with Industrial experience

I am thrilled to share my enriching experience during my Master’s degree in Chemistry at The University of Huddersfield, where I have the opportunity to work at Phillips 66, a prominent refinery. As part of my training, I am acquiring essential health and safety knowledge, made possible by Phillips 66’s involvement with CATCH. Catch offers the CCNSG Safety Passport National (ECITB) course, facilitated by the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB Global). I have the privilege of being supervised by Mr. Andy Naden over an intensive two-day training session. His engaging and insightful teaching style makes complex topics such as safe behaviour at work, creating safe workplaces, developing safe systems of work, identifying and addressing safety problems, and recognizing common hazards, both understandable and memorable. We are required to pass four exams, each with a minimum score of 80%. Thanks to Mr. Naden’s effective and entertaining instruction, I successfully passed these exams and gained a deeper understanding of workplace safety. Working at Phillips 66 UK underscores the importance of not only protecting myself but also ensuring the safety of those around me by adhering to the rules and procedures set by industry professionals. Working in the industry is challenging, and being well-informed about safety is crucial. I am grateful for this invaluable learning experience and look forward to continuing to apply these principles in my professional journey. #Chemistry #SafetyTraining #Phillips66 #ProfessionalDevelopment #IndustryExperience #HealthAndSafety #ECITB #CCNSG

Last month was the CATCH Apprentice Awards Evening, celebrating the hard work and dedication of apprentices – including those who are based at Prax Lindsey Oil Refinery – before they embark on the continuation of their apprenticeship, completing their training in preparation for entering the workplace. Special awards were given to recognise those who excelled in particular areas. Congratulations to our apprentice Archie Holness, who won the Practical Competency Award for demonstrating the highest level of ability in the practical environment across all disciplines. Archie was also nominated for Apprentice of the Year, having stood out for his amazing effort, outstanding attitude and performance, and exceptional ability. Huge congratulations to Archie, and we wish all our apprentices every success as they continue their career journeys! #CATCHAwards #Apprenticeships #PraxGroup
