"Black children are disproportionately likely to go missing, with 16% of all missing children being Black compared to only 6% of the general population. Given that going missing is often a warning sign of crisis or an indicator of serious harm, this massive overrepresentation suggests that Black children face disproportionately high risks." Yesterday Missing People published new research, carried out in partnership with Listen Up, which aims to explore Black children and their families’ experiences of going missing. Catch22 is proud to have contributed to this research. Click through to find the key findings and the full report here: https://ow.ly/Pt4o50SKcm7

Assistant Director of Justice, Naomi McGrath, writes a guest blog for T2A - Transition to Adulthood on the importance of taking a relational and individualised approach when it comes to supporting young adults through the Criminal Justice System, using Catch22's pilot in Newham, the Y2A Transition Hub, as a case in point. "By creating a safe, age appropriate, supportive environment, as well as access to additional support services all under one roof, the Y2A Transition Hub enables young adults to build positive working relationships with professionals and reignite trust in the system." Last Friday, Links Media College held a special graduation ceremony for their learners. The evening was an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate achievements of the learners in front of their families and friends. Josh Kyriacou, Lead Teacher says: "It is our first major celebration since starting out two years ago and was a chance to look back and see the journey we have travelled. It was more than just handing out student certificates for Links Media College; the graduation ceremony was a celebration of the learner journey and the achievements made, both academically and personally." Redthread, a charity providing transformative youth work in hospitals and other health settings to children and young people affected by violence and exploitation, has approached Catch22 to explore a partnership in the form of a merger. Like many charities, Redthread has been experiencing major financial challenges in recent times, due to the current external funding landscape. This proposed merger is designed to ensure these vital services can continue and grow, with the commitment to the children and young people who need these services being the primary focus. Our two organisations have strongly aligned missions and values, and we have a long and successful history of working together. We currently work in partnership on influencing policy and co-delivering The Social Switch Project, which helps protect young people from online harms. Both our organisations are wholly dedicated to supporting children and young people affected by violence and exploitation to lead safer, healthier and happier lives. We’re confident that as a result of this partnership, we can achieve even greater impact for young people. Although we will work together as one organisation, Redthread will maintain its existing brand and identity with which medical professionals, stakeholders and service users have built so much familiarity and trust. A dedicated report from the Army Families Federation and Warwick Institute for Employment Research found that many partners and spouses of Armed Forces personnel are underemployed – where work is either low paid, unstable, or without opportunities to progress – due to the specific challenges that this cohort faces. In response to these challenges, Catch22 and the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust (supported by the Ministry of Defence) have announced a new partnership, to support the spouses and partners of Armed Forces personnel and reservists into employment.
