Indro Mukerjee announced in January that he would be concluding his role as CEO of Innovate UK at the end of September this year. The process to recruit the next leader of Innovate UK, who will be appointed by Ministers, is ongoing. In the meantime, we are delighted to announce that Stella Peace has been confirmed as interim leader of Innovate UK from 1st October 2024. Stella currently leads Innovate UK’s Heathy Living and Agriculture domain as Executive Director, and brings significant senior leadership experience in business, research and innovation. Indro said: “Stella is a highly experienced senior leader who has already made a significant impact across our Innovate UK system. I’m pleased that she has been confirmed to step into this important role and lead our brilliant team of dedicated professionals. Together, they will continue to support innovative UK businesses, driving greater economic growth and productivity.” Stella commented: “I am very excited to be taking on this leadership role at such an important time. The High Value Manufacturing Catapult has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Research Council Canada / Conseil national de recherches Canada. Under the agreement, the two organisations will share facilities, exchange staff and collaborate on research and development programmes. This includes health and biomanufacturing, manufacturing and materials, and emerging technologies such as quantum, digital and artificial intelligence. Katherine Bennett CBE, CEO of HVM Catapult, said: "This partnership represents a significant step towards a more integrated and collaborative approach between the UK and Canada to address the global challenges and opportunities in the manufacturing sector." We were delighted to join industry leaders and Government representatives for Dave Smith’s roundtable earlier this month. It was an engaging and insightful day for all, with ripe discussion about technology and innovation in our country 🇬🇧⚙️ From scaling up funding, to building up departments with domain knowledge, we look forward to working closely alongside our stakeholders to further drive innovation in the country. Attendees included representatives from Government, CEOs and Chairs of the nine individual Catapults that make up the #CatapultNetwork, along with representatives from industry including CMCL, Centauri Therapeutics Limited, Octopus Energy, Carbon Limiting Technologies, BM Longworth, IBM Institute for Business Value, Weaver Labs Ltd, Astroscale, Technicut Limited, Cellular Origins, Freeport East and JDR Cable Systems.
