Today marks that start of the 2024 Paris #Olympics. To celebrate tonight's launch event and the next 2 weeks of competition at the XXXIII Olympiad, we take a trip down memory lane when 'Careys went to the Olympics', looking back at the numerous packages of works we delivered ahead of the London 2012 Olympics.

The Carey Group is a leading family-owned civil engineering, construction and dry-lining company operating across the UK
About us
Our story starts in 1969 with three brothers and a van. John, Tom and Pat Carey moved to London from Ireland and started a groundworks contracting company in London called PJ Carey Plant Hire (Oval) Ltd. Their aspirations at the time were reflective of the values of the Carey Group today – to care about everything they did, to act with humility in all interactions, to be passionate about their work and be authentic at all times. The Carey Group remains a family-owned construction business, operating across the UK and Ireland. Their goal at the time was to grow to around 50 operatives and provide quality, safe work so that they and their employees could provide for their families and get safe home every day. Through hard work and sticking to their values and their word, this was certainly achieved….and some. Throughout the years, we have remained committed to delivering on our promises, respecting our clients, offering innovative solutions and producing the highest-quality work in safe environments. These are the core principles set by our Founders, the ones we have never wavered from and they help us to fulfil our ultimate vision to be the most trusted and socially responsible construction company, that people are proud to work with. Our strong approach is underpinned by robust financial management, continuous investment in our people, specialist equipment and strategic assets and our long-standing culture of teamwork – we want to create the very best environments for our people. We care about our people and our partners and how we work with them, ensuring we do our best by them. Ultimately, we care about our impact on the world around us and the communities that we proudly help to shape.

We are delighted to announce that we are equipping our workforce with bleed kits from emergency bandages charity, Rapaid Emergency Bandages, to help improve health and safety on site. A a serious haemorrhage can cause someone to bleed out in less than three minutes, so acting fast with the right medical equipment until the emergency services arrive is essential. Each RAPAID kit has an 8-year shelf-life and contains everything needed to stop the bleed without the need for any training or experience. https://lnkd.in/eZEFfhA4

Careys had the pleasure of working on the No.1 Court with principal contractor Sir Robert McAlpine. The first part of the project Careys carried out directly for AELTC was to lay 1,000m2 of flooring in the Millennium Building - which holds changing rooms, a mini gym, interview rooms and a restaurant overlooking the courts. The green schist was the most challenging material to obtain, as it is a natural stone. Careys maintained meticulous quality control over the processing of the cut stone. Once cut, it had to be washed and hand worked with a wire brush to achieve the specified anti-slip rating specified and texture, hand- flamed to achieve the right colour, and then washed again to remove any residue. Such was the relationship developed with the client that we became the first ever contractor allowed to retain a presence on site during the main championship. #construction #wimbledon #courtno1

It’s 4th July today, #AmericanIndependenceDay and we spotlight our project at the ‘new’ American Embassy at Nine Elms, London. Our scope included concrete paving, metal works, sub-drainage, installing flood barriers, excavating a pond, and installing pond lining. Four internal garden areas were also installed, which included the waterproofing, high quality Italian limestone cladding, concrete paving to the service forecourt, construction of foundations to the street furniture, and the installation of gabion baskets, all of which were installed through high quality workmanship. In carrying out these works we followed a number of extensive security measures to meet the United States Embassy’s strict requirements. These included ensuring all employees undergo a 90-day induction process before arriving on site and the implementation of a 48-hour booking system. Furthermore, all products and materials on-site were subject to a 30-day vetting process.
