Social care leaders accuse Labour of a U-turn over care costs reform Social care leaders have accused Labour of making a U-turn on social care after Chancellor Rachel Reeves shelved care charges reform due to take place from October 2025. In her speech to the Commons, Reeves said the Conservative party had “covered up” the extent of problems for the public finances as she set out a raft of measures to deal with a projected in-year overspend of £22bn.
