Our new analysis shows cancers caused by smoking have reached an all time high at 160 per day 📈 We're calling on the new Government to re-introduce the Tobacco and Vapes Bill in the first King’s Speech on 17 July, to ensure that smoking has no place in our future. Dr Ian Walker, our executive director of policy, says: “Raising the age of sale of tobacco products will be one of the biggest public health interventions in living memory, establishing the UK as a world-leader. It’s vital that this Bill is re-introduced at the King’s Speech, passed and implemented in full, so the impact of smoking is consigned to the history books.” Read more below, including the reasons behind these figures, and why breast cancer has been included for the first time in this kind of analysis 👇 #CancerNews #SmokefreeUK #Smoking #SmokefreeUK

You might have heard that alcohol can cause cancer, but how does this actually happen? Drinking alcohol increases the risk of cancer as it causes damage to your body, even in small amounts. This doesn’t mean that you’ll definitely get cancer, but the risk is higher the more alcohol you drink. The more you can cut down on alcohol, or the longer you are teetotal, the more you can reduce your risk. We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who campaigned for a #TurningPointForCancer in the run up to the #GeneralElection – more than 8,000 of you joined the campaign 👏 Together, you asked more than 3,000 parliamentary candidates to champion cancer survival and helped secure commitments from the new government on ensuring the next generation can never legally buy cigarettes, boosting diagnostic capacity to catch more cancers earlier, and a policy programme that commits to less lives lost to the biggest killers such as cancer. Together, we've put cancer firmly on the political agenda and we’re looking forward to working with the new government to ensure they deliver on the cancer pledges they’ve made. #LongerBetterLives #CancerManifesto

It's #AlcoholAwarenessWeek, and we want to help you understand the benefits of drinking less or even going teetotal 📉 Alcohol causes seven different types of cancer, including breast, bowel, and mouth cancer. There is no safe level of drinking, as alcohol damages your body even in small amounts, so the less you drink the better ✅ It can be difficult to make lots of changes at once, so try making one change at a time. Making small changes you can stick to can add up to make a big difference - here's some tips from us 👇 Share with your network to raise awareness 🔄 #AlcoholAwarenessWeek #Alcohol #HealthTips #Wellbeing

Let’s start the week off by spreading some positivity! ✨️ Comedian Rhod Gilbert has selflessly supported Cancer Research UK (CRUK) for a number of years, specifically with our Stand Up To Cancer campaign. Despite receiving a cancer diagnosis himself, Rhod’s indefatigable support has continued in allowing our local groups to hold cash collections at his not-to-miss #GiantGrapefruit tour. Yesterday evening, Norfolk Angels volunteered at Rhod’s Norwich Theatre show, where the group managed to collect an amazing £1,827.75! 👏 I will forever be in awe of our supporters, and gestures like these will always give me goosebumps! From the bottom of our heart, thank you for this exciting opportunity, Rhod! We hope you enjoyed Norfolk 🥰 #RhodGilbert #Rhod #Tour #CancerResearchUK #CancerResearch #Cancer #Research #UK #CRUK #Local #Fundraising #Fundraiser #Norfolk #Suffolk #EastAnglia #Hope

We are thrilled to announce that Cancer Research UK has been named the most loved charity brand of 2024, according to Savanta's BrandVue report. This is a testament to the impact of our unwavering commitment to beating cancer and our refreshed brand. The results are based on 60,000 interviews conducted over the past year through Savanta’s BrandVue study, which tracks sentiment towards approximately 120 brands. Brand Love is determined by the percentage of people stating that they 'love' a brand, based on a seven-point scale ranging from love to hate, with an additional option for those unfamiliar with the brand. Data from BrandVue Charities reveals that 43% of the UK say they have friends or family impacted by cancer. It is unsurprising then that this year’s rankings highlight the continued dominance of healthcare charities. Together, we want to continue making greater progress - bringing hope to people everywhere affected by cancer. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our supporters for their ongoing support and collaboration. Together, we are beating cancer. #cancerresearchuk #research #mostlovedcharitybrand2024

Discover our International Cancer Prevention (ICP) Programme 💉 Cervical cancer is almost entirely preventable and, if caught at an early stage, it can be treated successfully. But due to limited access to the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination, cervical screening, and treatment, rates of cervical cancer are higher in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). We want to bring about a world where everybody can lead longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer, which is why through the ICP programme, we’re helping to expand access to HPV vaccination for adolescent girls in Africa and Asia. Find out more about our new grants and how they'll help to reduce cervical cancer rates 👇 #CervicalCancer #Vaccination #HPV
