"From the minute that Cancer Support Specialist Claire walked in the door, Caoimhe just adored her." Caoimhe was just four years old when diagnosed with cancer. Her mum, Clare shares their family story on our website 💛 "We had noticed throughout her treatment that Caoimhe's way of dealing with things was to just ignore what was happening. If a new doctor or new medical students came in, and wanted to talk about updates with us, Caoimhe would completely shut down and wouldn't even acknowledge them. I was worried that this would become her coping mechanism for life, that she would just shut down and not talk to us. For me, that was a big part of Cancer Fund for Children's support, just someone whose sole purpose was to check in with her, without her even realising. Claire helped her to share more about her thoughts and her feelings. It was such a relief for us! Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is coming to an end, but the impact of a childhood cancer diagnosis continues on for families across the island of Ireland. From our event sponsors, Kingsbridge Healthcare Group, Yes Insurance, Elave Skincare, and Camiral Golf & Wellness who made this our biggest Daisy Ball yet, to Bentley Boys Band, Sound to Light and TV Presenter Kathryn Thomas who injected life into the evening, the generous businesses and individuals who donated prizes for the auction on the night and all of the amazing guests who came along and supported 🙌 We also want to say a special thank you to our Young Ambassador, Vanessa who took to the stage to share her own experience of being diagnosed with cancer in June 2022 👏 We are blown away by your efforts which will help us be there for children and young people when they need us most! #ThankYou #Fundraising #DaisyBall
