🔍 Live Local Policy 🔍 Cambridge City Council has published feedback on the future of the Guildhall, Corn Exchange, Market Square, and surrounding public spaces. Over 900 respondents shared their thoughts during the summer engagement programme. Key feedback: - Market Square: Calls to deter anti-social behaviour, improve accessibility, and enhance biodiversity. - Corn Exchange: Suggestions for community uses, including libraries, cafes, free seating areas, and affordable spaces for non-profits and community groups. - Public Spaces: A need for an overarching transport strategy, including pedestrianisation and cycle infrastructure. To mark World Menopause Day we thought it would be a good time to revisit some findings from the RAND Europe research we commissioned alongside the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority into employment and age. It includes detail on how women experiencing menopause may have particular difficulties at work. Menopausal symptoms such as hot flushes, brain fog and low energy levels can make workforce participation more challenging and lead to low self-confidence. 🌟 Cambridge Ahead Insight 🌟 As part of our commitment to quality of life as the guiding principle for evidence-led decision-making on Cambridge's future, we're proud to have partnered with Cambridgeshire County Council on the second annual Quality of Life survey. This year's survey, with over 5,500 responses, provides valuable insights into residents' experiences, guiding our programmes and supporting informed decision-making. Key findings: - 72% report high or very high levels of happiness, consistent with 2023. - Physical health concerns dropped from 40% to 31%, yet 31% often feel lonely, a slight increase from last year. - 79% are concerned about climate change, up from 76% in 2023. - Concern about jobs and local investment rose to 59% in 2024, compared to 52% in 2023.
