Buttle UK's Growing Up in Poverty Report launches today. Read the full report here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eu2G2Vec This report sheds light on the harsh realities faced by children and families across the UK. From inadequate housing to food insecurity and limited access to education, the report highlights systemic challenges that perpetuate cycles of poverty. As we reflect on these findings, it's clear that urgent action is needed to support vulnerable families and ensure every child has a fair chance to thrive. Advocating for policy changes, investing in social services, and fostering community support are crucial steps toward creating a more equitable society. Let's unite in solidarity to address the root causes of childhood poverty and build a brighter future for all children. #ChildhoodPoverty #SocialJustice #CommunitySupport
About us
Do you remember a time in your life when somebody helped you – when the smallest intervention made the biggest impact on your life? This is what we do here at Buttle UK. We provide small but effective interventions to help children in crisis unlock their potential. These are tough times for many families and we are now seeing a rising number of disadvantaged and vulnerable young people across the UK. Last year alone we provided £4.8m in grants to nearly 30,000 children and young people, preventing them from falling further into crisis and helping them transform their lives. Whether we give a bed to a child who has become used to sleeping on the floor, counselling to a young boy who has fled an abusive home with his mother or a laptop to support a teenage runaway enrolling on a graphic design course, our direct, efficient and intelligent grants are always focused on the needs of the child. Our work proves that a relatively small amount of money can make a huge difference. Find out how and support us at www.buttleuk.org

Many energy-focused support schemes are now reopening for applications, including schemes from Charis, British Gas Energy Trust and SHINE. If you are supporting a family who you think may be eligible, be sure to visit Lightning Reach's portal here: https://lnkd.in/dXfH4vZx
And we're off! 🎉 Applications for the Park Homes Warm Home Discount are now open! Charis’ Ofgem regulated Park Homes Warm Home Discount scheme offers a £150 payment to help the 10,000 park home residents in England, Wales, and Scotland with their energy bills. Now in it's 9th year, this scheme ensures support for those who might not qualify for the main Warm Home Discount. Last year, Charis awarded over £2 million to park home residents! 💰 “Historically, park home residents have missed out on much needed financial support as a consequence of not knowing about the support available to them,” said Charis Director of Client Services, Jonathan Hunt. “The importance of the scheme to these households cannot be overstated." Charis continues to partner with us at Lightning Reach to streamline the application process, helping residents get support quicker and more efficiently. Shocking findings in our Growing Up In Poverty report reveal that 50% of families in poverty can't afford a bed for their children. This is unacceptable in 2024. Read the full report from Buttle UK here: https://lnkd.in/eaxFDSqC Many children across the UK are facing issues that have a domino effect on their ability to learn, survive and thrive. Families are barely keeping their heads above water during the ongoing battle against the cost of living crisis, some families forced to either share limited space in beds or sleep on the floor. We need urgent action. We are facing a poverty emergency.

Following the introduction of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, children were legally recognised as victims of domestic abuse. However, many children affected by domestic abuse are unable to access the support they need. The Domestic Abuse Commissioner is keen to understand the existing provision for children and young people and how their access to support can be improved. If you work with babies, children and young people affected by Domestic Abuse you can access the survey here: https://lnkd.in/esTdDQ_S
