About us

Born from innovation, Burberry is a global luxury brand with a rich British heritage.  Founded in 1856, our brand is underpinned by our founder’s passion for the outdoors. Thomas Burberry invented the innovative rain-ready fabric gabardine to protect explorers from the elements. In doing so, he created the foundation for the iconic Burberry trench coat, which remains core to the business even today.  Guided by our history of exploration and our shared belief that ‘creativity opens spaces’, our purpose is to unlock the power of imagination to push boundaries and open new possibilities for our people, our customers and our communities. As a values-driven brand, we are committed to creating the next generation of sustainable luxury and believe that diversity, equity and inclusion are essential to fulfilling our purpose. Fostering an inclusive culture where differences are valued and embraced enables us to be more creative, engaged and make a more meaningful contribution to the world around us. At Burberry, we believe in the importance of preserving critical manufacturing skills and enabling our colleagues to develop in their roles.    To support this, we established a training facility at our manufacturing site in Castleford, Yorkshire to help upskill our colleagues. From creating buttonholes and inputting loops to advanced machine or hand-sewing, our twelve-week training programme is designed for colleagues at all levels and has offered over 10,000 hours of practical skill training to date.    Discover more about our how we support learning and development here: https://lnkd.in/eEbd4cnG

The Rocking Horse bag celebrates the equestrian world with its smooth, curved design, reminiscent of the classic childhood toy.    Hand made in Italy, the Rocking Horse’s saddle shape is crafted using precise cutting techniques and a hand curved wooden mould to create its arched body. Inspired by the hardware on horse reins, the straps feature adjustable metal prongs, which switches the design from a shoulder to a crossbody bag.     Discover more about the Rocking Horse bag here: https://lnkd.in/eewEzUmc

In celebration of our new bag, the Rocking Horse, and our new store at The Landmark shopping centre in Hong Kong, we have taken over The Landmark’s MO Bar and transformed it into the Burberry Knight Bar.    From 26 June – 14 July, furniture and fixtures will be dressed in Knight Blue alongside neon light installations in our iconic Equestrian Knight Design.    Guests can also enjoy a traditional British dining experience and take away customised QR codes to redeem a gift from our store vending machine, including horse-shaped clips and new seasonal Burberry Check totes.    Discover more about our takeover of the MO bar here: https://lnkd.in/ewA5gwqa

At Burberry, we are committed to preserving artisanal skills for future generations. To support this, we actively participate in events and initiatives that give young people insight into the diverse career pathways available within the fashion and luxury industry, including ‘Textile Futures’ last week in West Yorkshire.   During the event, members of our Internal Manufacturing team joined local textile manufacturers to discuss the roles of design, manufacturing, science and innovation in the creation of textiles. We also encouraged attendees to explore our rich heritage and the importance of gabardine, the revolutionary fabric created by Thomas Burberry, to our brand's story.
