  • Meet Eric Sampers, our Global Marketing Director who joined Brockmans Gin two years ago in August 2022. With 21 years of experience in the drinks trade in marketing, Eric has a wealth of knowledge from both large corporate environments and his own business venture. He shares that Brockmans offers "the best of both worlds: the process and structure of a big business with the agility of a start-up company. We make fast decisions and are very action-oriented, but we know what we are doing!" Eric’s favourite Brockmans product is Agave Cut in a G&T. "I love all of our products: I was very impressed by the Original on the first sip in a G&T. I was heavily involved in the making of Orange Kiss – which I think is outstanding in a G&T on a hot day – and Agave Cut. If I had to choose one though, it would be Agave Cut, in a G&T, because it is such a groundbreaking liquid." Embodying the spirit of #TheProperlyImproperGin, Eric reveals a few interesting details about himself. Properly, he prefers classic cocktails like the Gin-based Last Word. Improperly, he participated in the Rio Carnival as a semi-professional in 2002. "I got paid to do the parade in a highly visible section of a local Samba school. The Rio Carnival is a championship, and Brazilians take it very seriously. It was a huge responsibility, and we were rehearsing twice a week for a month before the event which is shown on prime TV and in front of dozens of thousands of people in an avenue which feels more like a stadium… Unforgettable experience." Eric’s favourite place to enjoy Brockmans is "the garden of my partner, just relaxing, chatting, and listening to music. There are way too many bars I like to single one out." At home, he enjoys Brockmans while listening to "some English post-punk like Wire, The Fall, or The Cure (The Walk)." Currently, Eric is working on numerous exciting projects. "Where to start?     We're thrilled to announce a groundbreaking step towards sustainability with the launch of our newly-designed, lightweight bottle – the lightest among the bestselling brands in the super premium gin segment. Coming September 2024, this innovative packaging will be gradually rolled out across all products and markets. Our new bottle, crafted with lighter glass, can be widely recycled and marks a significant achievement in reducing our environmental footprint, all while maintaining the premium quality and distinctive character our 'Properly Improper' gin is renowned for. Key Highlights: - The new Brockmans bottle weighs only 500 grams, making it the lightest in its competitive set*. - 30% less glass weight than our direct competitors, on average**. - Our competitors' bottles weigh 42% more than our new bottle, on average**. - Now contains 51% post-consumer recycled glass content (up from 0.6%). As glass manufacturing is one of the most energy-intensive industries globally, reducing the weight of glass bottles is expected to save significant CO2 emissions during both manufacture and transport. Our Managing Director, Jean-Dominique Andreu, stated: “Our new bottle represents a significant step in our journey towards sustainability. We are proud to lead the industry with this innovative, lightweight packaging and we are committed to continuing our efforts to create a more sustainable future.” The design was brought to life by leading glass manufacturer Verallia UK. General Manager Axel Guilloteau shared, “At Verallia, our aim is to re-imagine glass packaging for a sustainable future and we are honoured to work on this project with Brockmans Gin.” This new bottle aligns with our B Corp certification achieved in late 2023, underscoring our commitment to reducing environmental impact without compromising on the luxurious feel and aesthetic that our consumers love.   • Meet Annie Ingram , our dedicated team member and Brand Manager who has been with Brockmans Gin for 18 months. Annie’s journey in the gin industry began when she was 18, and she has since navigated various roles across commercial and marketing functions. Her practical, on-the-job learning has been invaluable, emphasising her belief in "trying different 'hats' to discover where one's skills truly lie." Currently, Annie's favourite Brockmans product is Brockmans Orange Kiss Gin. After a long day's work, she and her husband enjoy a refreshing Orange Kiss G&T. Annie is a testament to our ethos as #TheProperlyImproperGin. Properly, she has "over a decade of experience in the gin industry," bringing immense knowledge and passion. Improperly, she isn’t classically trained in marketing—"my degree is in Special FX Makeup for film and TV." One of Annie's most rewarding experiences at Brockmans is "working in an agile business environment," where the sense of team effort is palpable. The small team dynamic makes every achievement feel like a collective success. If Annie could share a Properly Improper G&T with anyone, it would be the late Rik Mayall, "one of Britain’s comedy greats." His humour, which Annie grew up watching, would certainly add a touch of “Improper” to any gathering. Annie's favourite spot to enjoy Brockmans is Mr. Fogg's Tavern in Covent Garden, and when she’s relaxing at home with a Brockmans, Blonde by Frank Ocean is on the stereo. A little-known fact about Brockmans is that "we are an independent gin brand, distributed in over 55 countries." Annie was surprised to learn this when she joined, thinking such a well-established brand would be part of a larger company. This partnership will take effect on August 1, 2024, for on-trade and wholesale channels, with grocery and online moving to Proof Drinks on February 1, 2025.     Celebrating Our Sustainable Journey with Carbon Footprint Ltd! We're excited to share the ongoing sustainability journey of Brockmans Gin in collaboration with Carbon Footprint Ltd. Since 2020, we've partnered with Carbon Footprint Ltd to measure and reduce our carbon footprint, marking significant milestones along the way. Year-on-Year Footprint Assessments: Transparency is at the heart of our efforts. Each year, we've expanded the scope of our assessments to gain a comprehensive understanding of our carbon impact. Brockman Changes: We're actively investigating our most significant emission sources and implementing strategies to reduce emissions across all our business activities. Investing in Climate Solutions: In 2022, we took a bold step by offsetting our total calculated footprint through wind and solar projects, addressing a substantial portion of our Scope 3 value chain. Mike Whatmough, our Global Brand Ambassador and Sustainability Lead, perfectly encapsulates our journey: “The Carbon Footprint team are incredibly informative and have helped guide Brockmans to a point where we understand the full breadth of our carbon impact. We are able to make informed and major changes to reduce it. As with everything in the arena of sustainability, it’s a journey, widening our accountability and deepening our understanding as we go.     We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Henri Brunel as our new Commercial Director, based in central London. Henri joins us at a pivotal moment as demand for premium gin continues to soar, and Brockmans Gin | B Corp™ remains at the forefront of this dynamic market. Born in Belgium and raised in France, Henri brings a wealth of international experience and expertise to our team. With prestigious qualifications from Paris and San Francisco, he has held senior roles in the wine and spirits industry across both sides of the Atlantic. His impressive career includes establishing a range of premium French spirits in California’s West Coast market, heading the US market for Camus Cognac, developing global distribution for Cognac A. de Fussigny, growing Mouton Cadet and Escudo Rojo in the duty-free channel at Baron Philippe de Rothschild, and serving as Regional Director for central and eastern European markets. Our Managing Director, Jean-Dominique Andreu, commented: “These are exciting times for our notorious, properly improper brand, as it leads the renaissance of premium gin in the UK and beyond.
