  • Don't take our word for it when we say how great our British Frozen Food Awards are.... Just see what Simon Costello from Darta has to say... ''The BFFF awards night is becoming an “appointment not to miss” on our calendar and we again enjoyed it immensely together with lots of well-known people from our industry." "The icing on the cake for us was of course that out of 239 entries, our latest frozen salad (thaw and eat!) was voted foodservice product of the year. We had already won awards in previous editions with other salads from our range of eight ..but this was the absolute recognition." "It's fantastic how the quality of frozen products gets better and better every year and how, within our sector, we manage to not only stand next to fresh, but also deliver better quality, and with all the added benefits that frozen offers." "We already look forward to what will be no doubt a great evening in June 2025!’ So if you haven't entered your products into the British Frozen Food Awards get entering - https://bit.ly/3XNFkyc And if you want to get your tickets now for the awards night, they're on sale now! https://bit.ly/3XSlh1D

  • *** Anaphylaxis Awareness Week*** This week the BFFF team joined in Anaphylaxis UK #WearItBright campaign to raise awareness about anaphylaxis and to show support for those living with or caring for someone with serious allergies. Fear. Uncertainty. Worry. Confusion. Isolation. These are all words Anaphylaxis UK hear regularly through calls to their helpline. The reason they provide information and support is to not only educate people on the physical symptoms of allergies, but also to tackle the hidden battle of living with allergies… the emotional impact. The worry of living with or caring for someone with serious allergies, may never fully go away… we know that. But what we also know is having access to the right information and support can help to ease the emotional strain of living with allergies. https://bit.ly/4dAxbTI

  • *** BFFF LUNCH - OUR CHARITY PARTNER YOUNG LIVES V's CANCER *** It’s a life interrupted. When families and young people come to us, they don’t just have cancer. They have their whole life around them too. And that can be messy.” – Young Lives vs Cancer Specialist Social Worker. When a child or young person is diagnosed with cancer, their whole world can feel like it’s turned upside down in an instant. Playtime is stopped. Independence is taken. Confidence is stolen. It can result in years of education missed, careers put on hold just as they’re starting. It’s spending days desperately trying to navigate complex systems just to get basic support. It’s missing out on experiences and not getting the chance to enjoy new relationships. It’s watching countless opportunities pass by as debt begins to pile up. The impact of cancer on young lives is more than medical. And that impact can be felt by the entire family. That’s why we exist. Young Lives vs Cancer is the only charity in the UK with specialist social workers who provide tailored support to children and young people with cancer, and their families. We help them to navigate the emotional and practical impact of cancer. We remove barriers, solve problems and prioritise wellbeing. We take the time to understand what matters most to them. And we stop at nothing to make their voices heard and their unique needs understood, so they can get the right care and support at the right time. Support this fantastic charity. You can donate now using the QR code or make sure you come to our BFFF Lunch and you can donate there on the day. Book BFFF Lunch tickets - https://hubs.li/Q02QVvbX0

  • Our CEO has been speaking with the press again this week, flying the flag high, and promoting all the benefits of frozen food to consumers.

View profile for Rupert Ashby, graphic

Chief Executive of the British Frozen Food Federation promoting, representing and supporting companies across the UK’s frozen food industry

It was great to speak to The Telegraph last week about the benefits of frozen food for their article about ready meals. A challenging headline, but a chance to tell the readership about why British Frozen Food Federation members’ products are nutritious, tasty, convenient, and great value. The article goes on to review a number of products including those from some of our members. The paper has also followed up with a subsequent review of some frozen products too: https://lnkd.in/ezc4k5_p The BFFF keep pushing the message to a sometimes sceptical public, but the tide is turning with recent performance figures from Kantar and Circana showing that the frozen category has had another good 12 months in both value and volume sales. This data is always available to our members on our website. And as part of promoting these great products, look out for the ‘Frozen Food Revolution’ which runs for a week from the 14th October outlining all the benefits of frozen food, and why it is such a useful option in tackling the UKs very serious food waste challenges – more to follow! #ThinkFrozen #FrozenFood #FrozenFoodRevolution https://lnkd.in/eXVPnXVe

  • *** Technical Conference*** Our third and final session was kicked off by Helen White from Tetra Tech who delivered an eye watering talk with some pretty shocking figures on household food waste, and how the frozen food industry can help reduce food waste. Charlotte Slack from Company Shop Group followed on to discuss how industry food waste and surplus stock can help to support communities. Next up was Georgios Tetradis-Mairis, Head of R&D Futures Nomad Foods talking about their 18 month study - turning the dial on frozen. Our CEO and chair Rupert Ashby provided a great summary of todays discussions in his closing remarks. And that’s a wrap! Thank you to everyone, to our fantastic speakers, sponsor, exhibitors and delegates for being a part of today. We hope you’ve all enjoyed the day as much as we have. Wishing you all a safe journey home and we hope to see you again next year!
