Our CEO, Leigh Vallance, was recently invited to join Annabel Tiffin on BBC North West Tonight's famous red sofa, to talk about how changed announced in last week's budget will affect hospices. With Christmas just around the corner we are preparing for our full calendar of events and activities in order to raise funds for Bolton Hospice. We therefore are asking for donations which can be used in our many raffles and tombolas. Items such as sweets, chocolates, wine, fizz, and gift sets etc. would be much appreciated. If you can donate any items please do drop them in at either the main reception at the hospice, or our fundraising department at Giles House, both on Chorley New Road. THANK YOU!

We'd like to wish all those celebrating a very Happy Diwali, from all of us here at Bolton Hospice ✨ Yesterday, our special open day to celebrate the festival of lights with our Bolton Hospice community, and beyond, was a huge success! We were honoured to have the Mayor of Bolton join us for lots of festivities, including live cookery demonstrations by Sushma Snacks, Mehndi, traditional dancing, arts and crafts, and the chance to find out more about our Wellbeing Hub. We hope everyone who joined us had a wonderful time celebrating, and learning how Bolton Hospice is there for local people facing terminal and life-limiting illnesses 💜

Last month we were honoured to be the chosen charity at The Bolton News Bolton Business Awards - a night of celebrating the very best of Bolton businesses a charities, big and small. We'd like to say a huge congratulations to all the winners 🥳 The incredibly generous Bolton business community raised a fabulous £1205 on the night for Bolton Hospice, an amazing amount which will help us to be there for families when they need us most 💜

We're incredibly grateful to Phil Brickell MP for bringing the issue of hospice funding to Prime Minister's Questions this week, and for highlighting Bolton Hospice's vital services 👉 https://lnkd.in/eWA7WpSN This year's retail-themed #HospiceCareWeek has been a brilliant opportunity for Hospice UK and hospices up and down the country to highlight that we rely more on income from our charity shops than from the Government. It's heartening to hear the Prime Minister's response that he is "determined" to address the hospice funding crisis. We will continue fighting for a fairer funding model until the issue is fully addressed, ensuring we can sustain our vital services for local people facing terminal and life-limiting illnesses 💜

Last week, ahead of today's #WorldMentalHealthDay, our Wellbeing Committee were excited to launch our new 'Our Wellbeing' programme for staff and volunteers. 'Our Wellbeing' focusses on supporting everyone who's part of team Bolton Hospice to look after their wellbeing, which we know is just as important as caring for our patients and their families 💜 Underpinned by 6 Elements of Wellbeing - Physical, Emotional & Psychological, Growth & Development, Financial, Leadership, and Connections & Community - 'Our Wellbeing' both signposts staff and volunteers to existing ways the hospice supports mental health, and launches new initiatives too! Today, for #WMHD24, we're celebrating with a Tea & Talk, encouraging our staff and volunteers to join together and talk about mental health and wellbeing, and to have to chance to hear advice and guidance from Clinical Psychologist Claire Rehan. Looking after our Mental Health is so important, we can't wait to watch our Wellbeing Committee and 'Our Wellbeing' programme continue to grow 🌱
