Manchester Hospitality, Blacklock's now recruiting..aka wine on tap and chops til you drop 🥩♥️ While Sam and our trusty build crew start the labour of love to restore our beautiful Grade II listed building to its former glory, both Lucy and Thiago are looking for future Blacklockers, front and back of house, to join our team in Manchester. We work from a simple philosophy that everyone who walks through our doors leaves happy. PROMOTION ALERT - And it is a BIG ONE! 🥳 2 years and 10 months ago Blacklock were blessed with the joining of the fabulous Matt Hedges! Since then Matt has cuddled the team in Soho to greatness, moved over to CG taking it by storm and wowing us with his get stuff done but always looking after people, approach! We are delighted to announce that as of Monday this week, Matt took the baton (or chalk board if you will) from Lucy as GM of Shoreditch! Matt we couldn’t be more proud, we know that anyone who has been lucky enough to work alongside you, will agree, Shoreditch are in very safe hands! Huge Congrats from all of us at Blacklock 🥩♥️

Over the weekend we laced up our boots and headed out to the Peak District to hike against homelessness for our friends at Only A Pavement Away. Close to 25,589 steps* later, the team made it back to base safe and sound with smiles all round 🙌 The expedition raised almost £30,000 which is ace! They say make hay while the sun shines but when given the opportunity to take our team out to Jerez de la Frontera for a catch up with everyone at Lustau we were beside ourselves with joy🙌 Jerez is a cosy city, known by many for its flamenco, horses and ever-so-tasty sherry! During our visit we were fortunate enough to learn from Fernando Perez, who had been on the sherry tasting board for the last 10 years (aka he *really* knows his stuff) He talked us through the nuances of Brandy, Sherry and Vermouth and of how they were the first to launch a white and rose based sherry vermouth in 2017 amougst many other things. Coming home, there's a sense of excitment to be able to bring what we learnt to share with one another and weave into our summer menu. There wasn't a moment where our plates, glasses or hearts weren't full from their boundless hospitality received in Jerez, with a special thanks to Carlos & Fernando 🥩♥️ P.s. “at least once in our lives, we should all visit Jerez & if you go during The Feria be prepared to dance” - George #Sherry #TeamTrip #Jerez

On our way to Manchester, we popped in to see Roy and Anita who grow our Rhubarb on their family farm 🚜 They’ve been married 54 years this month and we think that’s really special. After a jam-packed two days, we're feeling totally inspired by the awesome people we met at Northern Restaurant and Bar. We wanted to say thank you to Northern Restaurant & Bar for inviting us to speak at the Restaurant Openings panel which touched on Monday's announcement that this Autumn Blacklock will be opening in Manchester. #northernrestaurantandbar #manchester #opening

Today we’re fuelled by a Christmas morning level of excitement alongside a dose of nervous pre-exam apprehension, as we bring you the (hopefully wonderful but equally hold-our-breath) news that we’re opening Blacklock in Manchester this Autumn♥️🍂 For some time now, we’ve held Manchester close to our hearts. Admirers from afar, we’ve looked on dotingly at it’s fabulous food scene, beautiful architecture and dreamed of one day serving up All Ins, doling out Granny’s White Chocolate Cheesecake and wheeling around our dainty cocktail trolley, making Old Fashioneds tableside🥃💭😍 So when a local landlord asked what we thought of a cosy basement in the corner of a Grade ll listed warehouse, formerly home to a textile merchant rich with Mancunian history, we hopped on the first train from Euston 🚂 took one look and knew we’d found our perfect home. Hiding in plain sight beneath the bustle of Peter Street, we’ll be a stone’s throw from a few places we have ever-so-mild industry crushes on like Speak in Code and Schofield’s Bar (which deservedly just won Bar of the Year 🙌). Skip through the usual legal to-and-fro📚and a lengthy planning application to lovingly restore every inch of this heritage building and we’ll soon be getting to work to reveal it’s former beauty ♥️ think old warehouse strip flooring, red brick walls and vaulted ceilings where the light floods in. Meanwhile, we’re excited to be working with friends old and new💯We’re teaming up with some brilliant local suppliers and are busy concocting new dishes and drinks to bring plenty of never-before-seen deliciousness to the Manchester menu. Yesterday Only A Pavement Away held their 2024 Collective Responsibilty Conference 💯 We were happily tucked away in the audience, listening to some total industry gems talk when our very Maria McCann was called up to the stage to receive special recognition for her work over the last year. We’re unbelievably proud of her! Thank you Gill, Greg Mangham, Dolores Panetier and the whole team for a hosting a truly inspiring day. 🙌🙌🙌
