Around a quarter of what we eat comes from the out-of-home sector - restaurants, cafes, fast food joints 🍽️ This food tends to be bigger in portion size and higher in sugar, salt and fat❗ Unlike the food we buy in supermarkets, it's hard to know how healthy different menu options are, and this lack of transparency means outlets have no incentive to make their food healthier. We worked with other NGOs on a new report to look at different ways to assess how nutritious OOH food is. It’s time for a BIG break from BIG food❗️ Families are bombarded by junk food ads every day of their lives, and we’ve ad enough. So, we’re claiming back ad spaces this summer where giant food companies would usually be. It was a pleasure to join our Obesity Health Alliance colleagues in meeting the new Public Health and Prevention Minister, Andrew Gwynne. We were thrilled to be there to represent youth voices 💪 We are encouraged by the Government’s commitment to child health and looking forward to seeing how their ambition to create the healthiest generation of children in the UK unfolds. We will continue sharing young people’s experiences along the way 😎

Government Affairs Lead at Obesity Health Alliance

Great to meet the new Public Health & Prevention Minister Andrew Gwynne alongside other representatives of the Obesity Health Alliance. Fantastic to hear firm commitments to evidence-based policies to address obesity and tackle preventable health harms. Very exciting to hear seriously the government is taking this issue. The measures announced in the King's Speech to protect children from junk food advertising on TV and online, and to end the sale of energy drinks to children, are incredibly welcome. But even better is the reassurance that this is just the start! Effective action on this issue will be instrumental in delivering the ambitions laid out in the Government's Health Mission, particularly to create the healthiest generation of children ever in the UK. It's such an exciting time to be involved in public health policy and hopefully this will soon deliver real, tangible improvements in people's lives.

Nothing to see here, just three legends getting a photo together 😎 No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. That is indeed THE Michelle Obama 😱 At the end of a hugely successful trip to Chicago, where Dev & Molly challenged some of the biggest food giants in the world, AND showed up with courage, vulnerability & immense youth power. The cherry on the cake was meeting former First Lady of the United States of America, Michelle Obama. I think we can all agree this photo deserves a spot in the hall of fame ⭐️ A pleasure to meet you, Mrs. Obama!

The actions of the far-right extremists across the UK the past week are against everything our movement stands for. We draw strength from the communities bonded by hope and are proud to unite with those who are opposing hatred and violence 🖤 Read the full statement from our CEO James Toop 👇

“Change is happening.” 🌟 In their final note at the The Consumer Goods Forum, Molly and Dev challenged big food companies to take responsibility for child health and not be left behind. What a POWERFUL way to wrap up their talk to the CEOs and leaders of Coca-Cola, Danone, PepsiCo, and more. 💪 We can imagine a world where these companies put child health first and fuel the future. Can you? 🌍✨ What steps do you think big food companies should take to protect child health? Share your thoughts in the comments! #Nutrition #ChildHealth #YouthActivism

Big Food knows how to get into the minds of young people — and it’s a bit FREAKY. But as Molly points out, with this power comes the responsibility to protect child health. It’s time to flip the script! Can you imagine a world where big companies take on this responsibility? We can! Watch the full video to see how Molly and Dev imagine this world 👀 — https://bit.ly/3YkJYWd
