We were honoured to welcome the Chancellor Rt Hon Rachel Reeves and Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner to Oval Village today as the new Government launched its mission to fix the foundations of the economy and deliver sustained growth. Driving up housing delivery is at the heart of their approach and we are hugely encouraged by the measures announced today and the commitment to forge a new partnership with the private sector. During the visit the Chancellor and Deputy Prime Minister saw the affordable and private homes being delivered across Oval Village, and spoke to ten apprentices about their experience on site and future career aspirations. At Berkeley Group we firmly believe that brownfield regeneration sites, like Oval Village, are the most sustainable form of homebuilding and have a key role to play in delivering the homes, growth and productivity our country need. The team at TwelveTrees Park celebrated the handover of the first affordable homes last week by touring senior figures from partner organisations, the GLA and the London Borough of Newham. Chief Executive Rob Perrins accompanied Greater London Authority Deputy Mayor for Housing Tom Copley and Mayor of London Borough of Newham Rokhsana Fiaz OBE, as well as Marcus Ralling, Chief Investment Officer from Homes England and Philip Jenkins FRICS, Executive Director of Development at Peabody. TwelveTrees will bring a dramatic change to the area, taking advantage of the five public transport lines running near the site and extending a thread of development between historic anchor locations in East London: Stratford and Canary Wharf. The project will infuse life into a brownfield site that had long lain unused. The development will have a range of housing tenures with 40% designated as affordable across the development. The Berkeley development team led by Justin Tibaldi and Harry Lewis, have worked hard to deliver high levels of affordable housing alongside vital community amenities and green, landscaped open space. By the time the scheme is complete, it will provide Newham with more than 3,800 much-needed homes. This development is part of our ongoing efforts to work closely with The GLA and London boroughs to build a better, greener, more prosperous London for all. #BrownfieldRegeneration #Partnership #AffordableHomes #Communities

Last week, we celebrated the incredible cohorts graduating from Berkeley Foundation Youth Leadership programme, delivered with their strategic partner, Groundwork London. A huge thank you to Kalpana Arias for a brilliant keynote speech. Kalpana underlined the importance of young people connecting with nature and being part of green solutions. Her message about ‘people power and flower power’ being the way forward truly resonated with us at Berkeley. We also hosted a dynamic panel discussion, spotlighting four inspirational young leaders: Cllr Hamza Taouzzale, the youngest ever Lord Mayor of Westminster; Maia Jarvis, from the Groundwork Youth Advisory Board; and Katie Sampford, Sustainability Manager at St George. Thank you for your brilliant contributions and for highlighting the significant impact of Youth Leadership in the sustainability space. Our participants shared their experiences and had the opportunity to engage with apprentices from The Green Quarter, one of the country’s most ambitious regeneration projects. The transformation of the 88-acre former Southall Gasworks into a nature-rich neighbourhood was a fantastic backdrop for exploring different routes into employment and discussing the importance of sustainability in their future careers. Together, we're empowering the next generation to lead with vision and a commitment to a greener, more sustainable future. Twenty-three talented young people from Ealing have graduated from the nine-month Street Elite programme, powered by The Change Foundation UK, Berkeley Foundation and Ealing Council (London Borough of Ealing). This unique initiative uses sports and mentoring to help long-term unemployed young people build self-belief and skills for work. This year's graduates, aged 18-25, celebrated by hosting a youth sports festival, engaging 200 local school children in activities like boxing, yoga, and dance. Each graduate will now be offered work experience with Berkeley Group, where they can continue to gain ongoing support to access education, training, or employment. Street Elite has reached 800 people over the past 12 years, with an impressive 80% of participants going on to make a positive step forwards with their lives. We believe this is a hugely compelling model of youth engagement with the potential to grow even further. "We have to give young people the best possible start!" We really resonate with the words of the Mayor of West Midlands Combined Authority, Richard Parker who joined Berkeley Group Plc Chief Executive Rob Perrins and five local apprentices on-site at St Joseph's Glasswater Locks regeneration site this morning to announce WMCA's flagship Youth Unemployment Plan. Social mobility is a key priority for our business and we agree with the Mayor that every young person should have the opportunities and support they need to secure a good long-term job and build a rewarding career. Our commitment is being put into practice at Glasswater Locks where we're creating over 750 high-quality homes and seizing every opportunity to boost local skills and create new opportunities for local people to take their first steps into work. Partnership working is key to successful skills programmes and St Joseph is working in close collaboration with The Skills Centre, Birmingham City Council and WMCA to deliver high quality training and apprenticeship opportunities at Glasswater Locks, as well as work experience and site visits. We are proud to play a role in the delivery of the Youth Unemployment Plan and look forward to supporting the Mayor and our fantastic local partners to help more young people reach their potential in the years ahead. #Constructioncareers #FutureSkills #Apprenticeships #Partnership #Collaboration #BuiltEnvironment #regionalgrowth #urbanregeneration

Welcome to Broadway East, a new neighbourhood now taking shape in the heart of Bethnal Green. Our St William team is working closely with London Borough of Tower Hamlets, RSHP and some fantastic community partners to reconnect this 4.5-acre gasholder site with its surrounding community. The vision is to create a welcoming part of Bethnal Green, with low carbon private and affordable homes, beautiful new public spaces and amenities. The carefully crafted masterplan will see two distinctive Victorian gasholders carefully restored to become the historic centrepieces of Broadway East. RSHP’s design draws on the site’s industrial history and the distinctive character of Bethnal Green. The development includes five colourful and finely detailed cylindrical shaped buildings, two of which will sit within the restored gasholder frames. The project will open up a stretch of Regents Canal that has been innaccesible for more than 150 years and create almost two acres of public space, including a children’s playspace, natural habitats, a central lawn and pedestrian routes which join up with local streets. A mix of cafes, bars, a restaurant, and community space will help bring the neighbourhood to life. Broadway East will deliver 555 low carbon homes on a sustainable brownfield site in the heart of London’s East End, 35% of which will be affordable homes for Tower Hamlets’ residents. There’s still a very long way to go on this hugely complex and long-term project. And we want to say a very big thank you to everyone involved, including STATOM Group Ltd, Shepley Engineers Ltd, Watkins, Yuanda Europe Ltd., Recco LLP, MCG Logistics and Design Delivery Unit to name just a few. A huge thank you to everyone at Berkeley Group who contributed to the success of this year’s Pride celebrations! From proudly participating in rainbow-themed competitions to organising networking events, our teams hosted a variety of initiatives to honour Berkeley’s LGBTQ communities and address the challenges ahead as we strive to create an inclusive environment where everyone can be their authentic selves. Earlier this month, we co-sponsored the very first "Pride in Property" networking event in collaboration with Lendlease, British Land, Landsec, Grosvenor, The Crown Estate, Savills, and CBRE, aiming to foster a more inclusive future in the real estate industry. Pride month concluded on a high note, with 50 Berkeley colleagues joining the London Parade on Saturday. A special thank you to Sean Gilbreth, Duko Frankhuizen, Keshal Patel, Alice McNulty and the whole Pride Network for organising such a fantastic day. #PrideInLondon #LGBTQ #Communities #Partnership #Collaboration

Huge thanks to our partner Collage Arts for bringing the arts to life at Clarendon in Haringey. The local arts group is cultivating an inspiring creative community in Wood Green, and St William welcomed them to Clarendon over the weekend to host a family fun day. With theatre, music and crafts set in Clarendon’s public park, it was a great day for all ages. Clarendon is also home to a pop-up gallery, displaying the fantastic work of Collage Art’s resident artists.
