Could it be you? ✅Already the new Secretary of State for Business & Trade Jonathan Reynolds MP has indicated his belief that social value in procurement can drive community wellbeing, and improve staff wellbeing and productivity. ✅And his new sidekick the Minister for Business is none other than Douglas Alexander MP, one of our first ministers for corporate responsibility back in the noughties (@the bitc alumni network may remember him!). He championed the role that business can play in society, and spent much of the intervening years in the charity sector. ✅Rachel Reeves’ powerful speech at Anthropy UK talked about the importance of the public private and third sector for the future of Britain. ✅In the MOJ, the appointment of Minister for Prisons @jamestcobbler has already made headlines, as he brings his experience as a compassionate and profitable business leader to the challenges in the justice sector. ✅And if all that is not enough – the call is already out for someone to really help shape our government’s approach on Social Value - and this time - it’s right in the cabinet office. I know there’s some really talented and experienced Social Value professionals out there in my network, who understand the nuances of embedding Social Value in business, and the social value that public procurement can offer to facilitate social change. Thrilled to be working with our client, CityFibre, on a fantastic social value project! We spent the day on-site with an educational charity, developing engaging KS1 and KS2 resources to spark curiosity in STEM subjects. We had the opportunity to interview Danielle, a brilliant CityFibre Build Assurance Engineer and previous apprentice. It’s clear from the stories we heard and the data we crunched that it’s all about enhancing the wellbeing of its candidates (accounting for over 30% of its social value). Continuing our collaboration with the CareTech Charitable Foundation after celebrating its fifth anniversary, we designed a new impact framework to evaluate potential grants focusing on how the Foundation can support and promote the social care sector, carers, and those residing in care. We are thrilled to implement the new framework in the 2022-23 Impact Report. We were delighted to work with Intermediate Capital Group (ICG) on their inaugural Charitable Giving Impact Report, working alongside The Giving Department. To support them in capturing the first year of delivery of the ICG's impact in funding innovative partnerships with three leading charities committed to improving educational opportunities and driving social mobility. And to be able to help report on ICG's Million Meals initiative, which has provided over £1m of funding over two years, with 8 grants across 12 countries and over 1.1 million meals delivered in its second year.
