  • So pleased with our Micro Business Shield award from The South & West Wales Safety Group, due to Covid we were unable to have it officially presented to us last year and took a while to receive and then trying to get it engraved, but, all good things come to those that wait. So very proud and to have received it in our 30th year of delivering health & safety training. Thank you Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water for sponsoring it #swwsg #safetyshield #thankyou #healthandsafetytraining

⭐Multi-Language Testing⭐ Did you know that quite a few of the awarding bodies we work with have resources availabile in a range of languages that delegates can use when attending training. For example, both International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) and PASMA have various test papers available in a mixture of languages that delegates can use when taking their theory test. In addition, the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test also comes with the option of a voiceover in different languages. Delegates sit the test in English, but can have the questions read out to them via the on screen voiceover in whichever language they choose (from the available list). Another option for the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test is to include an on screen BSL interpreter. With some awarding bodies, it is also possible to have courses translated, and the options vary from having all course materials in a particular language, to having a translator in the classroom verbally translating as courses are running live. It is important to note that different awarding bodies have different rules, and not all courses and tests can be translated, it does depend on the specific rules that we have to follow. We can provide further information on what options and support is available depending on the course or test you require, contact one of my colleagues at BARRY TRAINING SERVICES LIMITED who can help futher; Rhea Rowland, Rhys Butler, kirsty Meskell, Kinga Gruszczynska, LOUISE WEAVER, David Pittaway, Natalia Penberthy

⭐Feedback⭐ We've received one of the most amazing emails this morning from ecube who have recently undertaken a number of Emergency First Aid courses with us at BARRY TRAINING SERVICES LIMITED. I have to say, to receive an email like this really does highlight the importance of training, and how fortunate that this person was in the right place at the right time to help. 'Firstly, I'd like to express my sincere gratitude to you and the team at Barry training services for the recent First Aid training for our team.   This note comes with special thanks from our CEO Lee McConnellogue and a gentleman called XXXXX.   I wanted to share an experience that highlighted the impact of your training. Yesterday, I encountered XXXXX, a 58-year-old compliance manager for XXXXX, in a garden centre. He collapsed and began to fit, and I was the closest to help. Thanks to the First Aid training I received just last Thursday, I was able to assist him effectively. I managed to get him into the recovery position, clear his airway, and ensure he was breathing normally until additional help arrived. An off-duty nurse then stepped in, and together we kept him comfortable until the ambulance arrived   The training provided me with the confidence to act quickly and make a difference in a critical situation. It also highlighted the importance of such skills, especially since the garden centre staff seemed unprepared to handle the emergency despite having on-site First Aiders.   This was, without a doubt, the most valuable training I have ever received, and I strongly encourage other teams to participate.' The name of the person involved was included in the email, but I have removed this from the post to keep anonymity. What a wonderful message to receive on a Monday morning, and how great it is to hear that XXXXX was in safe hands. I hope he makes a speedy recovery.

⭐Safety Spotlight: Working at Height⭐   Did you know that Working at Height is still the biggest cause of workplace fatalities in the UK, accounting for 8% of all workplace injuries according to the HSE for the 2022/23 period.   Working at Height can occur in all manner of environments, and can even include working below ground level.   It is always important to ensure work is properly planned, supervised and carried out by competent people with the right skills, knowledge, and experience to undertake the task.   It is also important to always use the right equipment when working at height, and there are various options available depending on the task at hand.   As a company, we at BARRY TRAINING SERVICES LIMITED work closely with awarding organisations who offer training for ‘Working at Height’ and ‘Access Equipment’   PASMA Mobile Towers and Working at Height International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) MEWPs & Harness NPORS Safe Working at Height & Harness and Fall Arrest RTITB MEWP   We also offer a range of our own BTS Certificated courses, including Scaffold Awareness, Scaffold Inspection and Confined Spaces. If you are a CITB Levy Company, the majority of Working at Height and Access training is also eligible for a grant, for more information on the grants payable or for the training on offer, please contact one of our offices on 01446 739457 / 01639 822269. • It's so lovely to receive such great feedback from an auditor, well done BARRY TRAINING SERVICES LIMITED Team

CITB Audit⭐ We had another unannounced CITB audit on our Site Safety Plus Temporary Works Supervisor course at Hinkley Point C last week, this is where an auditor can remote in at any time during the delivery and view the course being delivered. The comments made by the auditor really do highlight the skills and knowledge of the trainer, and praise his delivery style and interaction. It's great to see such fantastic feedback! 'Throughout the first part of the presentation, the instructor sought the participation and interaction of the delegates. He sought to find out their own experiences and understanding of some of the basic concepts to be covered in the day’s training.' The information and knowledge imparted by the instructor was done so in a clear and precise manner. Again, at every stage, he sought answers and clarifications from delegates to help keep them engaged and (hopefully) feeling like they are involved in the training rather than being ‘done to’. I observe many courses and many times I see trainers almost ignore the fact that this course is about the delegates role and responsibilities as a supervisor. Many focus purely on the regulations. It was good to see how many times the instructor kept coming back to the fact that this is about their role, how they must operate and what their responsibilities are as supervisors.' 'I was particularly struck with the way in which the instructor constantly referred delegates back to their responsibilities as supervisors, something I don’t always see with this course (surprisingly!). He also used the delegates own circumstances often, which always has the positive effect of keeping delegates engaged and interested in the mass of information being delivered.' Our next Temporary Works Coordinator course is scheduled for the 30/09-01/10/24 at the BARRY TRAINING SERVICES LIMITED Port Talbot training centre. For information on this course, contact any of my colleagues who'll be able to help Rhea Rowland Rhys Butler kirsty Meskell David Pittaway Kinga Gruszczynska LOUISE WEAVER Natalia Penberthy #CITB #TemporaryWorks #SiteSafetyPlus
