We are thrilled to announce that our team were Highly Commended in the Constructability Category at the recent Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) North West Awards for the M60 Barton Bridge Bearing Adjustment Project - marking three years of consecutively being recognised within this category. This project was a technically complex project requiring seamless collaboration alongside our designer Amey, temporary works designer, Tony Gee and Partners and our supply chain, Mabey Hire, CSL and Standard Scaffolding. Together, we ensured constructability and precision for the bearing adjustment, which was required to relieve the stress in the bridge deck caused by differential movement between the original 1960's construction and the 1980's widened section. This achievement is testament to our teams focus on constructability across all our projects, from inception to completion. Our team recently completed a bearing inspection programme across 17 bridges, providing the data for the bridge engineer to assess the condition of the structural assets and plan a forward maintenance regime. Inspections were delivered on mechanical pot bearings and elastomeric bearings, with all inspections carried out and reported in line with BSEN 1337-part 10. As part of our end to end professional services, Balvac provided both the inspections and structural health monitoring to ensure the best structural care for each of the assets.
