About us
B Corps are accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy. B Corp Certification is the only certification that measures a company’s entire social and environmental performance. Certified B Corporations achieve a minimum verified score on the B Impact Assessment, proving their business is meeting the highest standards of verified performance. B Corp Certification doesn’t just prove where a company excels now—it commits them to consider stakeholder impact for the long term by building it into a company’s legal structure. The B Impact Assessment evaluates a company’s operations and business model impact on their workers, community, environment, and customers. Certified B Corporations make their B Impact Report transparent on bcorporation.uk Let's turn ideas into action. As highlighted in today's King's Speech, the government has set out an ambitious agenda on economic growth and worker's rights while making commitments to strengthen #CorporateGovernance. This is a crucial window of opportunity to reform the way all UK businesses approach key decisions. Businesses must move away from their focus on short-term profit at the expense of people and the planet. There is still time to introduce the Better Business Act in this session, empowering company directors to align the long-term future of our planet and the wellbeing of their workers and communities. This would enable the government to partner with every business across the economy and research has shown that purpose-led business models could boost growth and attract investment if adopted at scale. Find out more about the Better Business Act campaign and join our coalition of 3,000 businesses who #BackTheAct, including Virgin, Iceland Foods, Tony's Chocolonely , and organisations such as The Institute of Directors (IoD) of Directors, over on our website. 👇 https://lnkd.in/gBqhbVx

On the same day a new generation of parliamentarians was sworn in, we took the Better Business Act to Westminster. 💼 At a packed reception for the Higginson Strategy purpose-led summer party, the B Lab UK team and representatives from across the UK B Corp movement made the case to MPs and Lords for better business to be put at the heart of our new government's mission. Many attendees signed our open letter during the event calling on the new government to enact the Better Business Act – an amendment to Section 172 of the Companies Act, which sets out the ‘job description’ for company directors to ensure they align social and environmental impact with shareholder returns. We'll be sending this to Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds MP. Our latest blog discusses how our new government can create an economy that benefits all. Read more. 👉 https://bit.ly/45XZ2uI
