One of the major questions we at #Aurora see from our hydrogen clients is on the price that offtakers of renewable or low-carbon hydrogen will be willing to pay. Lets use the ammonia sector as an example - it's an existing use case for hydrogen, with most ammonia produced from grey hydrogen resulting in high carbon emissions. Offtakers will typically consider adopting low carbon hydrogen provided the total cost of ammonia production is equal to or less than via utilising grey hydrogen - but we must also consider the impact of any green premiums that might be available, and penalties for the use of unabated fuels. These have been set out in RED III mandates in the EU although are yet to be implemented into national law, meaning the full scope of their impact is not yet clear. #Aurora has considered how this then may impact offtaker willingness to pay for renewable hydrogen in three scenarios - considering what this looks like if no financial penalties are implemented and where both low and high penalties are implemented for non-compliance with RED III targets in the sector - compared against our view of how prices hydrogen producers will need to achieve under bilateral hydrogen purchase agreements (HPAs). You can tune in to our public webinar on the topic, where we furthre deep-dive into the ammonia and steel sectors, and consider how differences in GB and EU regulations impact overall willingness to pay on Thursday 4th July at 15.00-16.00 CEST/14.00-15.00 BST - https://lnkd.in/eEynpvxJ Looking forward to seeing you there!
