On Sunday 14 July, our bariatric team accomplished the first ever HIIT list of bariatric procedures. In an impressive display of teamwork, our talented surgeons completed eight bypasses and one sleeve in a rapid four hours and 20 minutes. With two operating theatres running simultaneously, our dedicated team of ward staff, theatres, admin, anaesthetists, and surgeons worked collaboratively to achieve this milestone. We're looking for a Band 6 Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse to join our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to care for some of our smallest patients. We are the Lead level 3 NICU for Surrey and part of the Surrey, Sussex and Kent Network, providing expert care for babies. Our focus is on Family Integrated Care throughout the babies’ journey and we host the Surrey arm of the Neonatal Transport Service. Today, my parents & I returned to the Intensive Care Unit at St Peter’s Hospital, where my Dad received 7 weeks of life-saving care following his heart attack in December. The unit provided such incredible care for my Dad and supported us as a family through a traumatic and emotional time where we were told that Dad would not make it. We are so grateful to the incredible nurses and doctors whose dedication, expertise and patience made all the difference during those critical moments. In March, I ran the Hampton Court half marathon to raise funds for the ICU. Today, I had the honor of presenting the cheque to them. Though it was challenging to revisit a place filled with difficult memories, it was lovely to see some familiar faces under much better circumstances. The donations are a small token of our appreciation for the outstanding care and support they provide daily. Thank you to everyone who donated ❤️ The money I raised will fund a specialist brain oxygen monitor that is above and beyond what the NHS could provide. This equipment will benefit many more patients in Intensive Care, giving them a chance at recovery just like my Dad's.
