We're delighted to reveal that the two artists selected for Lab X are... James Gallego Olivo and Nawarat ‘Nammon’ Welployngam! James is a movement practitioner and dancer based in London, who currently lectures at the London Contemporary Dance School. His work and research are heavily influenced by Hip Hop, which he blends with contemporary references and improvisation. Nawarat ‘Nammon’ Welployngam is the founder of Community Lab in Nang Loeng, Bangkok. With a passion for social change and cultural preservation, she has dedicated her life to empowering her community through art and collective action. As an artist, Nammon's work explores themes of identity, community, and the urban landscape, often using mixed media and public installations to provoke dialogue and inspire change. Lab X is a pilot artistic residency and cultural exchange between Thailand and the UK, hosted in collaboration with Bangkok 1899 / Creative Migration and supported by the British Council's Connections Through Culture programme.     "We’re proud to be supporting Lab X, a new artistic collaboration between the United Kingdom and Thailand, through our Connections Through Culture grant programme. Lab X demonstrates the power of artistic exchange, opening doors to new and exciting opportunities for Thai and UK artists. This new collaboration is supporting diversity in our arts sector through mentorship, artistic dialogues and cross-sector support. We're proud to be supporting this project which is aiming to tackle some of the challenges faced by artists working internationally -- from shifting environments and the on-going effects of COVID-19." - Danny Whitehead, Country Director at the British Council in Thailand Find out more about Lab X here: https://lnkd.in/e735TXQZ #LabX #ArtsadminLab #ArtistOpportunities

'As we cleared cigarette butts and sunk our hands into the wet, barren, gritty soil, we were surprised to find it teeming with life. Fleshy earthworms writhed urgently between our fingers, astonished by the light - amongst them we planted euphorbia, sedum, heuchera, hart’s tongue fern and a wildflower strip – all chosen to maximise diversity and provide habitat and nectar supply to pollinators.' The final weekend. I've loved this residency. Great to get to know Zoe and her approach to exploring the possibilities of our connections with the planet; with each other. Thank you for holding space and asking us to consider the impact. Loved my experience from sound bath to biome ballroom to a permanent new garden and all the chats in between. The pine tea is delicious.

As part of Trans Pride Hastings, Home Live Art is programming Tink Flaherty’s Benched on 25 July! 🏳️⚧️ Book your tickets here: https://lnkd.in/e5nYryFQ As part of Knotty, a festival of performance for the adventurous, Tink took their bench down to Hastings and St Leonards earlier this June to have a natter with passers-by. These exchanges are explored and interwoven into Tink’s ever-evolving performances.  It's through this unique style of transgentle storytelling that Tink demonstrates the radical and transformative power of offering undivided attention. At once raw and impulsive, confrontational and gentle, Benched confronts intersecting issues of class, gender, neurodivergence and marginalisation, expanding performance tropes and challenging compulsory neuro normativity. Don’t miss it!  ⏰7:30-8.30pm  📅 Thursday 25 July  💰 £10-15  📍 The Stables, Hastings  ♿️ To book seats for wheelchair users and carers please contact the Box Office on 01424423221 or via email on [email protected] #TransPride #Benched #TinkFlaherty #HomeLiveArts #Hastings #PerformanceArt #QueerTheatre
