Art UK is an art education charity and the online home to every public art collection in the UK
About us
Art UK is an art education charity on a mission to make the art in UK public collections accessible to everyone, for enjoyment, learning and research. We enable global audiences to learn about the UK’s public art collection by digitising artworks, telling the stories behind the art, supporting teachers with online learning resources and creating exciting opportunities for public interaction with art, both online and offline. We also run an art detective agency. We play a major role supporting public art collections, by improving their accessibility and sustainability. 3,400 art collections share the Art UK platform to showcase their art to the world, in what is one of the largest ever arts partnerships put together in the UK. In the last 12 months, over 4.7 million unique users visited the site with over half of these from overseas and over 20% in the USA. No other country has such a resource.

There's more to this tangle of flowers than meets the eye 🌸 #VisualLiteracyWeek 🌸 The flowers fight for space, disrupting traditions of still life painting, in which bouquets are usually neatly arranged. Some flowers only just fit within the frame. 👩🎨 Between the dense foliage and reflected in a mirror, the artist's own tiny head can be spotted. While light falls on the flowers, the face remains in shadow – is she hiding, or does she want to be found among the plant pots? What else can you spot? Look closer in this story by art critic, curator and writer Ruth Millington 👉 https://lnkd.in/enpxQKCb 1) 'Through the Looking Glass' 2&3) 'Through the Looking Glass' (details of) By Jean Cooke (1927–2008) © Royal Academy of Arts
