With society's ever-growing reliance on fossil fuels being a significant contributor to climate change, the investment in use of renewable energy sources is more important than ever. That's why at apetito | Wiltshire Farm Foods we have made an investment of £1.3m to greatly increase our renewable energy self-generation by increasing the number of solar panels across our main manufacturing site in Trowbridge.   Alongside placing panels across roofs on site, we have innovative plans to build a carport dedicated to housing more solar panels and maximise our generation. Once installed, just over 10% of all electricity used across our site will be generated by solar energy saving an estimated 220 tonnes of CO2e each year!   On our journey to achieving Net Zero by 2040, this project highlights our commitment to acting now and reaching our ambitious short-term carbon reduction targets along the way. #Sustainability #NetZero #Solar

Malnutrition is a prominent issue in the UK, affecting over half of residents admitted to care homes and 44% of patients in hospitals. Since 2012, we’ve been proud founders and board members of the Malnutrition Task Force, working across health, social care, and the local government to combat this critical issue. Our mission is to raise awareness, provide vital information, and offer practical guidance to prevent undernutrition and dehydration in later life.  In collaboration with the task force, we created our award-winning Mini Meals Extra range. These energy-dense, smaller-portion meals are designed specifically to help those with reduced appetites get the nutrition they need. Our dedicated team of Chefs and Dietitians ensure every apetito | Wiltshire Farm Foods recipe balances nutrition and taste. By providing these specialised meals, we address dietary needs and help enhance the lives of those who may otherwise struggle to obtain essential nutrients. #Malnutrition #EnergyDenseMeals #MakingaRealDifference

As part of our long-standing and valued partnership with Wiltshire-based charity Alzheimer's Support we recently made a donation of £10,000 that will help to make a real difference to those living with dementia. This money was raised by our staff members over the past year through various internal events, as well as generous donations from our monthly Sunday Lunch Club. We’re proud to continue supporting the important work of Alzheimer’s Support in helping those with dementia to live independent and fulfilling lives, as well as providing support to carers across Wiltshire. #AlzheimersSupport #DementiaAwareness #MakingARealDiffference

As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability and reaching Net Zero by 2040, we are electrifying our Wiltshire Farm Foods delivery fleet with over 200 brand-new refrigerated electric vehicles (EVs) set to be rolled out this year. The significant £14.3m investment will massively reduce the carbon emissions of our fleet whilst having no impact on operational efficiencies. This is the first step in our wider mission to have 75% of our Wiltshire Farm Foods delivery fleet electric before the end of 2025, a change set to save an impressive 1,358 tonnes of CO2e per year. We believe this to be an industry-first for mobilisation of refrigerated EVs and we’re extremely proud to be leading the way on a new standard in sustainable transportation. #NetZeroWeek2024 #ElectricVehicles #Sustainability
